I have a dachsund-black lab-basset hound mix. Never met a nicer, more intelligent, loyal dog in my life. I love you Roy!

The one that catches my eye in the pound because he/she's alert, intelligent, curious, playful, energetic without being rough, healthy, social, outgoing, and eager to learn.

Giant sad eyes saying "Take me home, I promise I'll love you forever."

My last three dogs were: Brittany Spaniel/Lab (current) -Chow/Lab - Corgi/Shepherd.

All adopted. All amazing in their own ways...

There's so many different breeds with so many different characteristics, it's impossible to choose. How do you compare the grace of a sighthound with the intelligent of a collie, or the tenacity of a terrier?

My first dog was a mongrel. We were pretty sure there was some sighthound, some collie and some labrador, and no doubt loads more in his ancestry - but TBH we were guessing. Who cares? He made a great pet.

I've got a greyhound now, totally different personality but another great pet nonetheless.

Personally I'm now drawn to those in the hound group after seeing what they do. Watching sighthounds coursing a lure, or watching trailhounds trailing never fail to make my jaw drop.

Any breed or mix has potential to make a great pet in the right home. My favourite breed or mix therefore is the one that's in the right home. Sounds like Roy comes into that category.

I love this question. I am a dog lover. (I still respect cats). I got a young Chihuahua female a year ago. I've spent untold hours, working with her. She's extremely intelligent, or just caught on good. It's amazing. I looked for the longest time, finding a female, and the desired color AND design. It was well worth the additional time search. Gawd, what a BABE magnate. The Chihuahua was the first and foremost thought. I never believed in my wildest dreams, the stir I'd get. I couldn't of done better, unless I bought a Viper. To be honest, I could drive an 88 Hundai, and still of done it. She's my world, and her 'Friends'.

I've always loved Shepherd breeds or Shepherd mixes. They're so alert, intelligent, and loyal. They're a good sized dog, not too big and not too small. They require a lot of exercise and I'm an energetic person, so it works perfectly. =) I also enjoy dogs that I can groom, and most Shepherds have long hair that needs a daily brushing. My favorite would probably be the German Shepherd or Collies.

I have the cutest and friendliest little Dachshund/West Highland White Terrier mix. She's also perfect sized for our condo, not too big, but also not too small. Pretty smart too, but can be stubborn.

My favorite is the terrior and toy group, because they're easy to handle. I used to own a Spitz, she dragged me everywhere. I just couldn't handle big dogs.

Hmm...that's a tough one!
Rottweilers!

I love their beauty, intelligence, sense of humor...I love them because they are a multi purpose breed: obedience, herding, world's greatest mouse catchers! LOL
