If you are an officer in any type of combat arms MOS, you will be going to Ranger School. Period.

Getting into Ranger Batt can be done in the writing of your contract - but it will depend upon you accomplishing the pre-requisites such as Jump School and RIP - Ranger Introductory Program, designed to weed out the wannabes.

Work on fitness, discipline, mental fortitude, drive and sacrifice to accomplish the mission, and making certain no one is left hanging if you can help it. That is just good Soldiering.

Be prepared to fight and fight to win. If you are an Infantry officer, you will be leading from the front. Be able to shoot and start getting comfortable NOW with the idea of killing people with extreme violence.

After receiving your commission, become your Platoon Sergeant's shadow, learn from him and the Squad Leaders.

Accept they will look at you with contempt at first and that it will be hard to earn their respect, if at all. Don't let it annoy you, don't let them see it if it does.

Ranger School is what we call a "Gut Check" as in, how bad do you want it?

It is not impossible, you do not need to be Hercules reborn to get through.

You just have to Soldier on, Ranger.

Best of luck.

I'm not a office,r but I no Ranger School is no cake walk. My friend said some of the guys get recycled, and it takes them many tries to graduate Ranger School to wear the Tan Beret.
As long as your a good leader and have Commander experience you should be on your way. If I were a 2LT in your shoes I would talk to the SGM about being the Company Commander so you have the experience. GOOD LUCK

Nothing in life is difficult if you are 100% wanting it, it's another life experience, being in the Military. If you can push yourself, you can make it into a Ranger unit. If you give up, you will be given up on, you will not make it.
