I eat it by reading it every single morning. It is able to save your soul. .....James 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
God bless you sister.

To eat the word of God is an analogy.
When we eat food, we digest it. Our body breaks down food into constituent parts so that what we eat becomes part of our body.
In this case the words have to be understood by the mind. Often times bible passages carry less direct meaning hidden beneath the surface. By study of many scriptures, one can find a deeper context for many of Jesus' sayings.

He made God's words part of who he is, he took them, memorized them, loved them and lived them. If you read the suffering and hardships that Jeremiah suffered for preaching the words that God asked him to he made God's words a very large part of his life and soul.... boy could we all use more of that!
God Bless and good eating :-)

i think it meant he hungered so much for the word that he ate it.
the Bible has a blessed verse out of the sermon on the mountain, "blessed are they who hunger & thirst after righteousness" .
Yes, i've expierienced that before. It seems like, i've just got to get hold of God & his answers. ,so i'll search til i get it.
He will,if I give him time. Most times , i think i quit reading about the time God is gonna bless me.
I need to have more times like that,
thanks for that queston. I think i've found myself "standing in the need of prayer."

There is a saying in my religion. "Feast upon the words of Christ." It does not mean to literally eat pages from your bible. But instead, you study them with love and true passion. A good meal you wouldn't take only little bites of. You'll get seconds and thirds so long as it's there. You'll let it strengthen and nurish you.
In short, it's a figure of speech. And I slightly suspect a bad translation.

To eat something means to edify, partake of, fill upon, make stronger. Re-read what eating something does...Gods word does just that. You could say it's food for the soul.

This is a metaphor for internalizing the truths of the scriptures. This happens through faith and memorization of scripture.

It's a beautiful verse. John similarly "ate" the words of a "little book" in Revelation and they sickened him. This little book was the apocrypha.
