The only hypocrite here is you. This is the second "question" you have posted today on this theme. These questions have already been answered by many people today, and yet here you are again conducting your stupid little vendetta against people whose only crime is having minds intelligent enough to imagine something they can't put in their mouths. Unlike you.
Why aren't you directing this "question" toward Jews? They follow the Bible, in fact their version of the Bible is limited to only the Old Testament, where all the old laws are put down. Christians follow the New Testament, with the Old Testament as a background. Why don't you ask the Jews on here why they execute criminals, or defend themselves in their homes with a gun? It's very simple - you have a grudge against Christians, you target Christians and you are therefore an incredible hypocrite. You are also among the majority of atheists on this site, meaning you are a snide, bigotted little person with nothing better to do with your time than make snide remarks on a site where people are trying to ask and answer serious questions on a subject you don't even believe in.
Most of the atheists on here delight in pointing out that religion is the cause of all the world's problems. The truth is, believers have moved beyond all that old stuff where we try to force our beliefs on others. That includes atheists. Atheists, however, at least the ones on here, are still waging war on anyone who believes in God. If you don't like having scripture quoted at you, why do you come onto a site called Religion and Spirituality, and pose "questions" designed to provoke the quoting of scripture? Because you don't want to learn, you just want to destroy. You want to insult and ridicule and create havoc. And then when Christians try to explain their views to you, you whine about how we're trying to force our views on you. If you don't want the answers, why do you ask the questions? Because you're a hypocrite.
Taking a hypocritical approach to the Commandments? What do you care? You don't even believe in them. You and your fellow atheists don't believe in anything much, including the right of others to practice their beliefs in peace. You are a hypocrite and a bigot, and a tiny-souled little person.

Christopher Hitchens was brilliant when he pointed out what these books actually say in an interview.
Of course, a lot of this is based on a selective interpretation of a 2000+ year old book from Judeah. We believed the Sun revolved around the Earth when this was written. When you point things like that out, we can't possibly take this book literally.
But hat's what they do.
And they want the State to empower them to spread this belief!
You have a worthwhile goal.
One a day you say!

In the first place, "hero", that was written for the benefit of the Jews back in the day. And get the hell off the war thing- politicians declare wars with the support of other politicians whether they're "religious" or not. And if anyone breaks into my home for whatever purpose, (certainly not for a cup of coffee), what the hell do you suggest I use? Harsh language- or a .44Magnum to blow his sorry a'ss into eternity in order to protect my family? Wake-up and quit asking "questions" like this. They're not even amusing anymore.

Now, I know that you don't like it when Christians tell you that you're going to hell, or similar judgmental b.s. Thing is, nobody likes being criticized, do they?
When you "bash" you put yourself on the same level as the "hypocrites" you seem to despise so much.
The only ones you really want practicing what they preach are the ones who preach Christ's love.
Some of them are actually trying to do that. Why not let them?

"Here's a question that sneers at a religion, namely Christianity, which shows the person's ignorance. This person obviously knows only what he/she has read in the newspapers. Even if it were true, it wouldn't excuse intolerants who hate other intolerants and other human beings."
Sound somewhat familiar angry guy?
Those are your hateful words. I know it sucks when the shoe is on the other foot, tell me about it.
FYI: Newspapers are mostly liberal in nature so they would agree with your viewpoints not mine.
Anyway, I hope you find peace be it secular or not from the anger that grips whatever is left of your heart.

I'm fine with people believing as they will, but I don't want their version of morality enforced through laws or "pseudo science" taught as science or even as a good way to think. It would be good to get most people to a level of knowledge where we don't hear absurdities as "evolution sounds like a conspiracy"

yes, but as far as i can tell, the rate is much, much lower than 1 per day. more like...1 per year. brain wave re-patterning is a slow and difficult process after all...and, one that has been indoctrinated must UNDERSTAND that this is the case and actively seek out the information that puts the lie to the religion.

Leave them alone! Life is too short. They are happy. What do you care? Personally, I have enough to worry about in my own life, let alone someone else's. Shoot the burglar. Make sure he is dead. There will be but one song sung. Yours.

I see you have read 2 verses in the Bible. And you still dont know the meaning of them. And as far as bashing goes. Bring it on cowgirl. I know you are lost. I used to be where you are, I know exactly how you feel. What is it that draws you to us? Jeremiah 24; 7
