Bosses seldom give employees the respect they deserve. I have seen people give everything they have only to receive little recognition.
Don't take your job too seriously. Don't get frustrated. You will never receive the credit you deserve, even if you become self-employed.
Focus on making good money and have a great time with your family. Don't sweat the small stuff and expect bosses/co-workers to be ignorant of your talents.
Just play the game. Promotions go to likeable people-kiss butts, not the best workers.
It's a game. Learn to play it and don't get frustrated. Realize that people on average are just plain stupid.

Yes, yes and yes. I am fortunate enough to have been with the same boss for over 18 years now. We not only respect each other but can communicate very effectively and without anyone having hard feelings against the other.

yes - even though he has five inches of height on me. I am payed fairly and acted as though I am needed. My boss has said a few times that if there was an employee of the month award given out then it would be given to me.

No, yes, and no. And the only reason I am paid fairly is because I work for the Federal Government. If my pay came out of my boss' pocket, I'd have to reimburse him for letting me work there. It's a hate/hate relationship!
