I am a born again Christian that does not condemn Jewish brothers and sisters to hell like some do. I love Jews and Israel. I find it sad that many Jews have that perception about Christians but it is true in some instances because many Christians do not walk in love.

Only Yahweh can determine who is and isn't a child of God.

So with that said how do Jews view Evangelical Christian support for Israel?

Leftist Jews are suspicious.

Jews who are comfortable with their identity welcome our Evangelical supporters warmly.

We of course do not want proselytization, but the overwhelming majority of evangelicals support Israel without any intention to missionize.

My gut reaction is just relief and delight that any group of people support Israel.

Israel gets a really bad press. No country is perfect, and this includes the Jewish state. But at the same time, there are countries in this world that behave far more badly and aggressively than Israel, without receiving a fraction of the condemnation.

So when I hear anyone speaking well of Israel, I guess I'm just happy!

Though I don't really like it too much when some - not all - evangelical Christians then begin waxing lyrical about how/when/where/why/if we Jews will be 'saved' etc etc etc...

I'm glad you posted this and I was interested in reading the frank answers. I bet there are even some Jews who view us as "useful idiots," but who knows.

I'll just add that my support as an evangelical comes with no springs attached. I'm not hoping for armeggedon, etc. etc. God has put a love for the Jewish people / Israel / Jerusalem in my heart, that's the bottom line. There are Christian Arabs who agree by the way, and I would expect to see their numbers rise dramatically in our lifetimes.

I don't care for the reason Jews are being supported by the Evangelicals, I am just happy that a large group of people, other then Jews, also supports Israel.

To the first two ladies: It is a religious war, whether you deny it or not, this isn't about the land, it is about "Mohamed told us to murder Jews"

Edit: for L'Chaim:

"but not because the Bible tells us that it is OUR land"
sweetie, the reason Jews have Israel today again after 2000 years is because they prayed facing that area for 2000 years. They asked G-d for that land for 2000 years, they were persistent enough and they got it back. They got it back because it belongs to them! Your grandfathers and their grandfathers believed it! What gives you the right to wave it off like that? What are your grounds?

"They are being manipulated by extremists who want to destroy Israel"
They let themselves be manipulated. Every human being knows right from wrong, and most gazans simply choose to be "manipulated" into wrong, because to them it feels "right". Jews never became vicious killers, and never will. Period.

-----------

And here is something about the Evangelicals:
I don't care what their beliefs are, I only care that those Evangelicals had love in their families, their fathers respected their mothers (for the most part), they were loved as children, and therefore they are a lot like us, Jews. They are more like us then our "cousins" Muslims are.

Well, we call Orthodox Jews to those which are following The Torah (Book with all the Hebrews Laws given by Yahweh), and
The Messianic Jews are those whom believe in God through Jesus Christ.

We are sons of God by two ways:

1. According the bible; Hebrews are the sons of God by nature of the promise to Father Abraham Genesis 12:2

2. And for all the rest that we are coming to God through Jesus (John 14:6) We are being adopted by Jesus as sons of God (John 1:11-12). When we receiving to Jesus as our savior and Lord in our hearths.

So in my understanding I don’t see any Jew in condemnation but in Revelations speaks about the salvation of some Jews by Death during the process of the 7 (specialty in the 3 ½ last years) years of tribulation.(Revelations Chapter 12).

Like LadySuri, I'm also uncomfortable with it. Israel needs all the support it can get, but Evangelicals perpetuate the myth that it is a "religious" war. The Zionist movement was secular, not religious. Some of the settlers believe that the land is theirs because the "Bible tells them so," but mainstream Jews know that it was secular Jews and the international community who helped to create the State of Israel -- eretz Yisrael is not a God-given right.

For zk: Yes, I agree that the war is "religious" in the sense that Israel is fighting for survival, but not because the Bible tells us that it is OUR land. I also don't believe all the Palestinians are vicious killers. They are being manipulated by extremists who want to destroy Israel. Israel is doing everything possible to eliminate the terrorists with as few civilian casualties as possible.

I am uncomfortable with evangelical xtians wish for the return of their christ which involves the end of this world. The left behind series of books spell out the evangelicals view of the end of the world. A very scary end. They are a series written for as Orwell said the proletariat. I even had heard of one airline pilot do something very stupid cause he thought he experienced "the rapture"

I wouldn't care if no one backed us up. The whole world can hate a certain religious group but that doesn't mean the fault lies with the minority. We have been persecuted since our inception as a religion 4,000 years ago. Our tormentors have vanished, yet we remain always. Who is in error?

Alot of evangilical christians belief that once jews settle the
"holy land" all of it that is then jesus will come back and the jews will convert to christianity, atleast that is my understanding of the strong support of israel from evangilicals.

I saw a documentary on youtube awhile ago where a jewish guy walked around this evangilical convention of sorts and he asked people some questions and stuff, they kicked him out at the end but the point was clear that the christians are very un-informed and quite simplistic on their views.

IF a fat white guy uses big words with "support Israel"
"Jews will accept christ" "muslims are evil" "jesus will come back" then somehow the evangilicals start talking in tongues and yelling yeppy for jesus.

Any when the reporter asked about some hypocritic statements
The pastor AKA big fat white guy's statements they kicked him out of the convention, and a few people tried to convert him to christiaity keeping in mind that young reporter is jewish.

Seriously though evangilicals cant put sentences together for the life of them they just listen to the odd prhase and then inbetween talking in tongues and bible thumping...
