If my value were measured with money then I would be totally worthless. LOL (pretty poor right now)
I think that the reason for my being on Earth is the love I give to my family and friends as well as my fellow human beings. I try to live my life and set an example that I would be proud for others to attempt to follow. I know that I will never be famous but I want to leave a mark on the hearts I have touched while passing through this world. If tomorrow were my last day I could go in peace knowing that I have made a difference no matter how small or insignificant it may seem to me, I know it meant alot to the person whose life I touched.

Neither one actually! Having loving friends and family truly make our lives easier to bear at times but the real value of a life lies in how we have chosen to touch the lives of others. What good did we do, what kindness did we impart and did we take the opportunity to be uplifting to a soul that may have been too tired to fight? That's the legacy and the inheritance.

I would say that my value is in what I contribute to the people and world around me. If I can be a happy person with positive energy, helpful to those around me (without expectations in return) and care & share with all my sisters & brothers in this life...then I my "value" lies in my action here.

The Bible says that a good man makes an inheritance for his children's children. Blessing your grandchildren even after your gone seems like a worth-while thing to do.

I think that this is wonderfully addressed by a classic movie starring James Stewart "It's a Wonderful Life"......
It was not MONEY that made George Bailey rich, it was the friends he made and the lives he touched in a positive way.....
I try to live my life similarly.....

My value is in how much I love and respect myself. Living in the present and just learning to BE.

None of the above.
Yes, friends are very important. However, it's not how many friends I make, but the quality of friends, that increases the value of my life.
********
LOL :).. since when did basically saying "quality of quantity" become a bad thing? How sad...

Family for sure. Friends? That depends on your definition of a friend.

I agree with you.
If I raise my son to be a good responsible man, I have had a successful life.
