I got the two in one player and I'm not sure if I could only rely on the kind of cable that screws into the line in/ line out or do I need the cable components in order to use the vcr or dvd player.

The actual connections / cables you'll need all depends on your tv and the combo unit itself. For example, a HD tv may need a different hookup than a non-hd. And it depends on the actual connectors or plugs that your tv and combo unit have. For example, older televisions may not have an s-video connection, so you may need to use composite instead.

But in general, connections may involve the use of the following cables:

1) Composite (RCA) for both video and audio
2) S-video for video--a higher quality video picture than the composite
3) Coaxial or digitial audio for "theater" quality sound--a higher quality sound than the composite

With most combo units, the manual has diagrams towards the front that show how to hook it up unvder various situations. For example, if you've got a cable or sattelite box, you'll need to connect your antenna or dish to the IN of the box. The OUT from the box will then go to the IN of the combo unit. The OUT of the combo unit will then go to the TV.

But if you don't have a cable box or sattelite dish, then the hookup is different.

the ingredient out is barely for the dvd participant so it does complicate issues a sprint, you will possibly then desire a separate enter on yout television for the two the dvd and the vcr, and could submit to in recommendations what's what, so which you will possibly want a set of ingredient video cables + audio for the dvd participant and you will possibly want a video cable + audio for the vcr the finest way is to hook it up with a coax cable from the ant. out to the ant. in on the television so as that it comes up on channel 3 or 4
