Probably a pug. I like rat terriers, but know they can be stubborn and difficult to train.

if I were to choose out of those two, I'm choose a pug. But having other people choose, should not make up your mind for you if you are considering to get one. Choose which would fit you, your lifestyle, and you wants the best.

Rat terriers are high energy, they need lots of attention and play time. Where pugs are not as high of energy as the terriers. If you have alot of time on your hand, time that you'd devote to your dog, then probably either would be good. But if you have a busy life, a more laid back dog with less engery and needs might suit you better.

Hope that helps

I'm not biased or anything...but rat terrier 100%

Ok, seriously...I love pugs, but even if I didn't own rats, I'd choose them over a pug, only because I don't have experience with short-faced dogs, dogs with potential respiratory problems.

A rat terrier would have a better chance of surviving around the 2 dogs I already have.

Probably the rat terrier...a snoring pug at night would drive me crazy.

Pug. I had one as a kid. She was the perfect dog. Caught mice better than a cat, learned tricks easy, not too hyper, had sense about who to let in the house and who to warn us about. Rat terriers are way too hyper for indoors.

If I were FORCED, I would demand it be a rescue.

Personally, the terriers are too high strung for me and the pugs have some major health issues. I can't see me owning either.
