Part 2
Is it the water that saves or is it our faith that saves us? Remember, water is symbolyic
John 3:3-7, “Jesus answered and said to him, 'Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.' Nicodemus said to Him, 'How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born, can he?' Jesus answered, 'Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of WATER and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.'"

Hi Kait, water is the essence of life, without water there can be no life. Without salvation there is no life hereafter.
God Bless,
H'chat
Just caught your 2nd question. Ephesians 2:8,9 "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."
"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish." Ephesians 5: 25-27.
The word water is mention 69 times in the New Testament in almost all cases it is used in the context of cleansing from sin.
Blessings,
H'chat.

Good - Without water a person dies. Without Salvation a person dies.
Water in essence represents the Holy Spirit. The life giving source given to both beast and humankind. (See Ecclesiastes)
&
Salvation - This is what Jesus said at the well (John 4:10-14)
&
We must be born through woman into the flesh. This is the water of the birth canal. Explanation deeper than a few verses
But this hint. In the Old Testament the Sons of God that fathered the Mamzar or mixed ones had refused to be born to woman. (This argues for the pre-existence of each one of us. More than once God says He knew someone before they were formed in the womb.)
Baptism symbolizes the birth into the Spirit & Salvation for we are reborn into God's fold we are give life through Repentance, Salvation and Grace.

Refewrence to Noah in 1 Peter 3:
18 For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit; 19 in which also He went and made proclamation to the spirits now in prison, 20 who once were disobedient, when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through the water.

Z comes from the Greek letter zeta. a lot of English comes from Greek and Latin roots. and a variety of of different Greek words got here upon their way into Latin. And Latin carried on residing after the Roman Empire in the Romance languages (French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, and Romanian) The French (Normans) invaded England in 1066 and took over and for some years the respectable language of england became into French nonetheless it became into specially spoken by using the French ruling training. (it is between the excuses why accessory and dialect remains a image of the class divide in England.) So the British have used the French spellings of those Greek words ending ise (or ize) with an s. Dictionaries are actually not that previous. the 1st outstanding one became into in 1755, Samuel Johnsons A Dictionary of the English Language. So it form of feels that British dictionaries (Johnson) chosen one set of endings and united statesa. (Webster) chosen the different. Now maximum British English dictionaries now enable the two spellings.

I believe it would have something to do with ancient egypt...
The nile floods on a regular basis, as we know in modern day, but back in the times of ancient egypt, they believed that it was brought about by a special ceremony by the pharohs. The pharohs would then "give birth" in a sense to the flood waters, only to later recede back. They believed that in this cycle of birth and death of the water, that human life was much similar. When a person died, to them, they would pass on into a next life. How water ties into salvation is that in the beginning of life, children are pure of "sins". The flooding of the nile by the water was like the birth of the river, and the water was associated with this purity, so it was believed that since the water was pure, it was capable of clensing you of these wrong doings, so as to lessen the weight of your heart when it was judged against the feather of justice by Osiris (or Anubis) and determine if you went to the underworld and ruled along side Osiris, or became a demon that plagued humanity.

You are probably thinking of this great Bible verse, Isaiah 12: 2-3: "Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation."
However water does not just refer to salvation, it refers to Life and the Holy Spirit too!
I think of washing feet in water, which Jesus did for His disciples and asked us to do for others (symbolically). This act refers to cleansing the sins of the day, having already been washed in the BLOOD for salvation!
I forget how many times water comes up in scripture; but I remember it is a LOT!
The first mention of water in scripture is found in Genesis 1:2 ... just the second verse in the book!
The last mention is in the last book of the Bible, Revelation 22:17.
In between, the word "water" flows right through the scriptures like...er...water!.
This should teach us that there is a great spiritual significance to it.
But I more closely associate water with the Holy Spirit, and BLOOD with salvation.
The Spirit is linked with Water. Jesus said He was the "living water", refering to life in the Holy Spirit I'm sure.
Life is also symbolized by water, because water is a necessity of life. In a way, water is life itself!
Water speaks of physical (or natural) birth. In Genesis 1:20, we read of the first mention of life, and this life comes from water, "...Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life...".
If you are stuck on believing we evolved from single cell amphibians, that verse could be used to defend that idea, although I am NOT going to say that was God's meaning!
'Wells of water' describe our capacity to draw up or draw on true ideas from deep in our mind, to have access to truth that refreshes and cleanses us, as water does!
Hebrews 10:22 says, "Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water."
