No, if your partner gives you the permission and is knowledgeable about you having a roll in the hay with somebody else, then it's not cheating. It's swinging. If there's some "spiritual" significance attached to it, like a tantra session or something, then I guess that's just a bonus.
Monogamy isn't for everybody. I would, however, advise couples interested in such exploration to be absolutely sure it's something they can emotionally deal with. I've seen some who say they can, but can't.

It depends on the way you look at it. Everyone defines cheating differently. Great if everyone involved sees as a spirtual experience and are consenting adults. But that is not always the case. Its not an odd question.
The only problem is that the people involved are not the only ones involved in some cases. There are some who lie to their partners and get involved with others. Then how can be that the one being lied to is not involved, they are and did not give their permission. This is intentionally hurting someone else and is cheating no matter what way you look at it.
Whoever is involved is being very selfish, has agendas, and do not care about anyone else so don't think they care about YOU.

No, if both partners willingly agree to it, it's not cheating.
I had an open relationship once and it worked perfectly okay for years, until we kinda got tired of one another and went our separate ways, but we're still very good friends.
If you know you can handle it and if your partner agrees, then of course, why not. It would be even better if you and your partner did it with another person at the same time. So nobody will feel excluded or "cheated".

That raises the question as to what is considered "a spiritual experience". I suppose one could claim they had a "spiritual experience" while committing all sorts of atrocities. I'm not implying that cheating is an atrocity, but trying suggest that feeling something is a spiritual experience is an insufficient basis for establishing that it is.

I don't know about spiritual experience - I have never heard that line before, I honestly thought I had heard them all at this point.
LOL
When they give you permission it is ok until they start throwing it in your face during any & every type of argument.

I've learned, from experience, that having an open relationship usually ends up in disaster. Everyone thinks they're fine with the concept, but it turns out that they can't handle it ... and that "spiritual" experience goes away really quickly.
In my opinion, if you want a relationship, be monogamous. If you want to have several sex partners, have several partners. But the two rarely mix well.

I remember when sex was a spiritual experience. I was so young and happy then. I almost wish I had never experienced it because I would not miss it so much now.

This is not something that I could ever do, but I know it works for some. I don't know about it being a spiritual experience either, but if the "experience" caused the people to learn more about themselves and eachother, I would consider that spiritual.

Just look at the future consequences. So many cult leaders have tried to do the very thing you are thinking about and the final outcome is misery for you and especially the children - if they come into the scene.

If both parties consent then no it's not cheating. What are you cheating if you have persmission? Some people REALLY are ok with it. I don't get it, but that's why for me it would be cheating. :)
