About a 14 yr. old girl, Bernedette Soubivious--a peasant girl in 1858 who lived near Lourdes France. In the grotto of Massabielle, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared 18 times to Bernadette. And gave her a message for all:
"Pray and do penance for the conversion of the world"
This a true story. And supposedly The Virgin created a spring whose waters are reputed to have miraculous powers. Lourdes has since become one of the most famous shrines attracting more than a million pilgrims ea.yr. There have been 1000's of miraculous cures at the these shrines.
A medical Bureau was est. in 1882 to test the authencity of the cures. The doctors inc. unbelievers as well as believers. Any doctor is welcome to take part in the examination of the alleged cures.
As many as 500 medical men/women of all faiths or no faith have taken advantage of the invitation each year.
No one leaves Lourdes w/out a gain in faith.
Many moral, spiritual and physical cures have taken place there.
It's a great movie!!! It's BEAUTIFUL spiritually. Very inspiring, very uplifting, and peaceful.
Thanks for this question, am on a movie kick--buying vids and dvd's. This is a keeper for your personal collection of films!!!

Peter & Paul (1981) is one of the best. The version with Anthony Hopkins as Paul. Another we have watched at our house until we've nearly worn it out is the Gospel of John (2003) with Henry Ian Cusick as Jesus.
Also check out the Visual Bible series for Matthew with Bruce Marchiano playing Jesus and the follow-up movie, Acts with James Brolin as Peter. And there is always The Apocalypse (2004) with Richard Harris as the Apostle John on Patmos.
If you watched the Gospel of John, Matthew, then Acts, followed by Peter and Paul and then Apocalypse, you would get the entire New Testament in movie form.
With a little looking around you will see there are actually several very well done Christian movies.

Carman made a movie a few years ago called CARMAN THE CHAMPION, where he's a Christian boxer trying to regain the title from a bad dude, and help some kids in the process -- and it was a really good movie, actually.

Unfortunately not many. I would be the biggest fan of well made christian movies in the same way that Christian Contemperary music is great christain movies are usually terrible. The End of the Spear is the only well made explicitly christian movie that comes off of the top of my head.

Although this may sound strange, one of the best Christian movies I have seen is the "Matrix". How can this be? Here is a page that describes all of the Christian concepts underlying the film...
