This question is for those people who say this, as I have seen many people on here think this way...
What is your IQ?

Point proven: Christians don't have low IQs. To the person who said they were just making it up... get over it. YOU WERE WRONG! Well, except for the one who said his IQ was over 1600. Get real, if you were that smart you would be in a lab right now trying to prove the big bang THEORY to us believers...

IQ tests...oh yeah...*chuckle*

Was high enough to get into the Army (as if that says a lot), was high enough to qualify as Chineese Linquist (which does say a lot), but wasn't smart enough to see the writing on the wall 25 years ago...which doesn't say much for me applying what God gave me...lol

Was high enough to score entry into a Fortune 500 company management fast track program, which could say something, or not say something.....

but really..the best test was when hypno-XXXX (can't say any names), when his retort said my IQ was lower than 85 for believing in creation.

I guess since I believe in God I loose 10 points, I also loose another 10 points for believing in Christ's resurrection... and not to say anything about loosing 50 points since I believe the Bible is God-Inspired...

But that's ok...I can still work on Soduko puzzles, speak 3 languages, and remember Scripture...even then..if I had a choice of getting a column in Parade magazine for Highest IQ or standing my ground at the rescue post outside the gates of hell.....well..so much for Parade magazine...I'll be the one wearing the asbestos suit, reaching out.

I read through all the answers and everyone has a high end I.Q, which is disturbing really.
If this is what intelligent people do with there spare time, I am extremely disappointed.
I honestly think that I.Q tests are a waste of time.
They do not show real intelligence.

I, for example only did 2 years at high school. Pretty much failed everything, shouldn't I have a low I.Q.

Well I come in at around 140+.

I'm an atheist.

I was tested at 15. It was 134, in the lower end of the gifted range.

I don't put much stock in IQ, either. It's a relatively useless measurement in itself, unless you are measuring specific mental skills in relation to other people.

Edit: As to the poster of the original question: Denying scientific theories such as the big bang that defy your religious beliefs is completely irrational. Some people can be smart and irrational (ex. John Walker L., the Taliban fighter who was raised in the United States but converted to Islam, was so intelligent that he learned Arabic and memorized the Koran in a year. A lot of good that did him)

Been a long time since I was tested but in the 140's at that time. Also totally aside from the IQ I have a bachelors and masters degree in Biology. I am currently working on my PhD in the same. I also happen to be a Christian.

Ha ha... now that is a pretty low blow. In my case, I think thinking Christians are rare, but they do exist, and they give you opportunities for a great conversation.

Tolkien had the right idea when he criticized his good friend C.S. Lewis for his overboard Christian sermon known as The Chronicles of Narnia. His own book, Lord of The Rings was inspired by Christian teachings, but he did not like to talk down to his readers or sermon to them. The best thinking Christians don't need to do this. They'll leave you alone with your beliefs and let their actions be their simple argument.

167 has been my average, but 144 are my lowest, and I would rather not say my highest, because I do not lend much stock in IQ. Intelligence in real life has as much if not more to do with paying attention, determining which facts are relevant etc, then the ability to answers questions on a test.

I swear the average IQ on Yahoo Answers is about 85, so I don't think this is a fair place to make those judgments.

Seriously though, Michael Shermer's book "Why People Believe Weird Things" has some interesting arguments. He shows that most highly-religious people tend to have high IQs, because they use their intellect to rationalize away opposing arguments.

Atheist

IQ, not to sure, I believe it's 140 or so, but I think it might be higher simply because the test was a bit skewed in meaning with its questions that made the answer hard to discern from the choices

My IQ was high enough to get me into Mensa.
Since Einstein's IQ was 167, I am having a little trouble believing some of the claims on here.

I have read several studies that say that the more religious a person is, the lower their I.Q. is. I do have a problem with this. I was a Roman Catholic as a child when I first had my I.Q. tested. It was already in the high average- superior scale.
I do not believe that converting to Buddhism caused me to gain I.Q. points. However my quest for knowledge and propensity to question everything may have caused me to change my beliefs.

EDIT- No, asking people to give their IQ and having almost everyone answer that their IQ was equal to the top 2.2% of the population (with several saying their IQs were higher than Einstein) shows me that many people either
1. do not know their I.Q.
2. are being dishonest
Asking people to tell you their I.Q. without actually testing them does not prove anything, I am sorry to say.

there are alot of high IQ christians; as there are high IQ atheists. however, sometimes we can all "think too much"; there is a thin line between sanity and insanity. i don't believer that the bible is to be analyze and dissected as atheists do... however, i will still pray for them! *smile*
