The answer to this question comes from when God chose the Jews in the first place. He says that he chose them not because they were the greatest, but because they were the least. Nevertheless, you are correct in thinking that the sinner is in the most need of God and hence our prayers and efforts. As for the Jews, God said that they should be priests to all nations. Historically speaking, I tend to think that the Jews had a problem with doing that. This is perhaps as good as any example about the refusal of the Jews at large to accept Jesus as the Messiah. On the other hand, the Christian Church's forced conversions didn't exactly display Christ's example of love towards them.

The saddest part of modern history is the revelation that no one, for the most part, cared one whit about the Jews until after the allies liberated the concentration camps. It was well into the 1970's that the Jews were restricted from a great many social clubs in America simply because everyone "knew" they were inferior. It is something of which none of us should be proud. The greatest thing about knowing Jesus is that we know that our lives are not manageable without Him: thus anyone who knows Him knows that he or she is not the strongest person, but among the weakest.

God chose the Jew, and He chose Jerusalem. He has a special plan for it and them. He said this:
Zechariah 2
" 8 For this is what the LORD Almighty says: "After he has honored me and has sent me against the nations that have plundered you—for whoever touches you touches the apple of his eye-"

God has so much love for the Jews. And still:
Romans 9:27
Isaiah cries out concerning Israel: "Though the number of the Israelites be like the sand by the sea, only the remnant will be saved."

So it is what it always is: God made promises, and He always keeps His promises. He promised them that a remnant would be saved, and that's what has and will happen.

We were ALL the worst--that is why we needed a Savior.

He started with the Jews first because they were given the promise of Messiah first through Abraham. "And by your Seed will ALL the earth be blessed." So it started with the Jews and the blessing spread out to the entire earth from there.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. - Romans 1:16

Actually, the opposite is true. The rest of the world worshiped things like stones and sacrificed their children to idols. Jews were entrusted with the laws of God because God knew they would preserve His laws for mankind. I am not Jewish and Jesus came at the right time to bring salvation to the whole world.

Sending you a smile to help pick up your day.

Nah. That kind of thinking is just another way to express bigotry. He sent Jesus to the Jews so we could find Him and identify Him.
