Actually that is kind of funny. My mom is nearsighted, dad is farsighted. My younger sister is nearsighted in 1 eye and farsighted in the other ( we call her nearly-farsighted!) I am slightly farsighted, and my brother has perfect 20/20 vision.

Genetics aren't the only factor so it really hard to say. The kids might have a higher chance or needing glasses, but there is no way to know for sure.

Well, I am nearsighted and my husband has astigmatism. We have two daughters. One is nearsighted like I am while the other has mild astigmatism. That particular daughter has a pair of glasses but very rarely wears them. My sister has amblyopia (lazy eye) while her husband is nearsighted. They have three sons. The youngest is nearsighted, the middle one also has a lazy eye, but the oldest has perfect vision.

it's possible. The proteins in the eyes are no different than proteins elsewhere...they are determined by DNA. On the other hand, your parents may have easily been exposed to environmenal factors that the childeren were not exposed to. So there's no really accurate, 100% sure way of predicting it.

most likely. its pretty much true that vision can be inherited. my dad's side all wore glasses and my dad wears glasses. and me and my brothers vision is terrible! and my mom has extremely excellent eyesight and her side of the family all have good vision too. unfortunately i inherited bad eyesight. but its not just because of genes. i also watch TONS of tv and comp.

Well that's a very interesting question.
I inherited my bad eyes from my Mom's brother... so that could be something else to think about.
