And your missionaries are little boys who have no clue who God is. They have been to my house plenty of times. But only once they dont like the truth either. Even when you show them with scripture (the Bible) and show them all the lies in their own books.

ok Leisha L what part of the second guys answer didnt ya understand ? and no im not a raciest! And please dont any of you feel sorry for me. I am well aware of who my LORD is. And when I met the Lord, the 2 lies he exposed to right away where the LDS church and the Jehova witnesess!! I dont know how else to answer theses questions than to just tell you the truth. Im sorry that the truth hurts. But the Bible is the infallible word of God. Nowhere does it contradict its self. And it is the Bible that says Joeseph Smith was a false prophet not a bunch of wacked out Christians. If you dont think that your Salvation is worth a full investigation then I dont know what to tell you. That is what becoming a Christian is all about. To tell the truth. And that means exposing ALL the false teachings of God... My God is Holy and Just. that means he is going to do exactly what he says he will... and he expects, all of his children to tell every body the good news about him.He isJESUS CHRIST

Now, to a Christian who is familiar with the teachings of the Bible, the color of a man's skin makes no difference. In Mormon theology, however, a dark skin is a sign of God's displeasure. In the Mormon publication Juvenile Instructor we read:
We will first inquire into the results of the approbation or displeasure of God upon a people, starting with the belief that a black skin is a mark of the curse of heaven placed upon some portions of mankind. . . . when God made man in his own image and pronounced him very good, . . . he made him white. We have no record of any of God's favored servants being of a black race. (Juvenile Instructor, v. 3, page 157)
The teaching that a dark skin is the result of God's displeasure comes directly out of Joseph Smith's Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon teaches that about 600 B.C. a prophet named Lehi brought his family to America. Those who were righteous (the Nephites) had a white skin, but those who rebelled against God (the Lamanites) were cursed with a dark skin. The Lamanites eventually destroyed the Nephites; therefore, the Indians living today are referred to as Lamanites. The following verses from the Book of Mormon explain the curse on the Lamanites:
And it came to pass that I beheld, after they had dwindled in unbelief they became a dark, and loathsome, and a filthy people, full of idleness and all manner of abominations. (Book of Mormon, I Nephi 12:23)
And he had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing, because of their iniquity . . . wherefore, as they were white, and exceeding fair and delightsome, that they might no be enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them. . . .
And cursed shall be the seed of him that mixeth with their seed; for they shall be cursed even with the same cursing. And the Lord spake it, and it was done. (2 Nephi 5:21 and 23)
The Book of Mormon states that when the Lamanites repented of their sins they became white like the Nephites: "And their curse was taken from them and their skin became white like unto the Nephites;" (3 Nephi 2:15)
The Book of Mormon also promised that in the last days the Lamanites—i.e., the Indians—would repent and become a "white and delightsome people":
And the gospel of Jesus Christ shall be declared among them; . . . and their scales of darkness shall begin to fall from their eyes; and many generations shall not pass away among them, save they shall be a white and delightsome people. (2 Nephi 30:5-6)

LDS Mom- What should I call the missionaries? LOL
The LDS church doesn't make you happy, it doesn't give you happiness. Only the Jesus of the Bible can do that. I know I have a home in heaven when I die. That is something the LDS can never say that they know for sure.
The black LDS people that I have heard from don't really care about it. I find this truly sad. Have they ever read the garbage that came out of Brigham Young's mouth regarding the black race? He was an awful person, and will have to answer to God for his derogatory remarks.
EDIT- I think it's baloney that people say that Young and others were only reflecting the mind set of the time with their comments. If Young was truly a prophet of God, he would not have made those comments. God would have chastened him when he did make those comments. Young would have publicly asked for forgiveness, and never made those kind of remarks again.
Bartolomeo- I find it sad that you have been brainwashed into believing this garbage. The LDS leaders knew that if they wanted the church to grow bigger inside and outside of the states they were going to have to give the blacks the priesthood. Why do you want to be apart of a church that has a history of such hate toward your people? (see edit above)

look, i don't think in racism, yet I do have faith in God. God desperate to try this...and that i'm not likely to argue with Him. i could point out that numerous the e book of Mormon tells of how the Lord blesses the Lamanites and facilitates them to repent whilst they're waiting. There additionally are thoughts in there on the topic of the efforts that the folk of God took to tutor and help their brethren. somewhat the e book of Mormon replaced into written for the purpose of telling all those that they are "not solid off constantly" and to evangelise the Gospel of repentance and desire to them. The e book additionally lower back and lower back tells of the equality that the folk have been commanded to have inspite of ideals or epidermis shade. The e book of Mormon is a few distance from racist. It in no way states that a black epidermis potential wickedness no rely what. It purely states an action God took to tell apart those 2 communities of folk in this one area of the worldwide.

Which is what exactly because if you are talking about blacks not receiving the priesthood then you better also direct this message to the majority of people on this planet when the priesthood in the Bible was denied to several groups of people and really only given to a very few, according to the Bible.
Doctrinal changes occured from the Old Testament to the New Testament in a major way and yet that never bugs socalled traditional christians. How many "christian" churches now let gays or woman be priests. Yet when a doctrinal change occurs in the mormon church its just proof of how evil we truly are. I just LOVE the hyppocrites out there in the christian community.
Hey whats your name that is learning about the mormon church, let me guess you arent learning about it from mormons. Only the mormon hating socalled christians that are trying to save us evil members of a church that supports family values, practices an incredible amount of charity and community services, and pay a more regular tithe and attend church meetings more regularly then most other religions, oh while none of our clergy get paid for their work in the church.
Yeah we sure do deserve to go to hell dont we.
Everytime I read hateful ignorant statements from antimormons, esp the ones that call themselves christians, I am soooooooooo grateful that I was not raised in a church that preached sooo much hatred and intolerance twds others. I am sooo grateful I dont believe in a God that sends good people to hell. I am soooo grateful that I was raised in a church that has one of its articles of faith that we should respect the religions and worship of all other people. I would much rather be called a member of a cult and a non christian by these socalled christian and be a mormon then be raised to be an arrogant judgemental so called christian in a sect that doesnt even see its own hyppocrisy.
Joe, maybe I should have clarified who I was talking about, but I wasnt directing the antimormon comments at you. I was directing them at many of the people that answered with the typical mormons are all cultists that are brainwashed and going to hell.
And yes, I think many socalled christians really do hate mormons because you cant love someone and have as much disrespect as they do at our temples or towards us a people in general. What kind of a person protests a temple dedication? Get a life. I will never never understand how so many christians can really look at how many mormons live their lives, in service to their families and communities, and really think a loving fair God would send them to hell. I would never ever want to believe in that kind of a God. Why would anyone?
and now that I have read your follow up comments, I do think you have a major chip on your shoulder against the church and maybe you need to get over it.
wow joe, your arrogant self righteousness just came out.
How dare you tell someone that is "only" 19 that they dont know anything about God. Who the hell are you to judge what they know about God or what experiences they have had to confirm their beliefs in God.
As for your scriptures, you can interpret it any way you want and it doesnt mean you know more or are more right. Bible bashing doesnt prove a thing.

Yes I do. Your insisting on interpreting passages speaking of "White & Delightsome" as a reference to race makes you no better than those of the 19th century. At least early LDS had the excuse of not understanding. You however must simply be racist.
-----
PS: MistyAnn in responding to the question "Do converted black Mormons really know what the book of Mormon really taught" stated: "The black LDS people that I have heard from don't really care about it. I find this truly sad".
Why do you find it "sad" that I am able to understand that it's human nature to interpret things through a lens that is distorted by social norms and limited understanding? Should I disavow Christianity in its entirety because PEOPLE in the Christian faith preached Galileo Galilei as a heretic for advocating the heliocentric model of the universe (that the earth orbits the sun and not the other way around)? I should hope not. I'm a grown up and understand that people made assumptions based upon INTREPRETATION OF THE SCRIPTURES which later proved to be false. Does that mean the Bible must be false? Does that mean Jesus wasn't the Messiah?
You must realize that racism against Black people (African American & Black-Latino) wasn't a uniquely Mormon phenomenon. It is a product of Western society that started since the first slave trade and persists to this very day in some parts of the US. Are Early Mormons not human like everyone else? Aren't Early Mormons like everyone else susceptible to the same ill foibles of society IN WHICH THEY WERE RAISED? YES!
So, though you find it "sad" that I've done exactly what has been commanded of me (to forgive ALL men, which may even include deceased people who have indirectly harmed me), in doing so I can focus on how I can better my deeds words and actions instead of critiquing those of someone who can't even defend them.

I'd really like to know what you think the Book of Mormon taught. Why should anything in the Book of Mormon offend blacks? Please, explain yourself. Are you inferring that black Mormons are uneducated and ignorant? I think you should be more specific and careful in the way you phrase your question.
ETA: Yes. I've read the second guy's post. He is interpreting it wrong. The curse was NOT black skin. The curse was being separated from the presence of God because of wickedness. In order to differentiate between those who were good and bad, he changed the color of their skin. We don't judge people by the color of their skin. It was used as merely a tool for differentiation.
And does your God really tell you to judge others? Does your God say that you personally can see who is going to go to heaven or hell? If so, then I'm glad our God is not the same.

You know, Satan works most on those who could have been very strong members... I am sorry for you.
Yes, the Book of Mormon teaches there were a group of wicked people that God cursed and turned their skin a different color...that generation. Now, don't you think it would be weird if only one generation had darker skin? That doesn't mean ALL of the decendants are cursed. It means their ancestors were.
Let go of your hate seriously. "You can leave the church but never leave the church alone." Don't let that apply to yourself.

I assume you're refering to the "White and Delightsome" description of some people.
It was just that....a description.
They were white.
They were delightsome.
It doesn't say that the only way to be delightsome is to be white.
Did god hate everyone that wasn't a Levite in the Old testament....afterall, they were the only ones that could hold the priesthood.
Are you really looking for answers, or do you just hate mormons and enjoy slandering them???

Let’s look at several things. 1st off my husband is black and LDS and was at one time a Baptist minister. So he really know the Bible and the BOM as he as read it several times and studied and prayed for 8 months before becoming LDS. (It was long before I met him). I asked him about Blacks and what he understood in the Bible about the different races. He said that he had always understood (and had it confirmed while studying to be a Baptist minister also) that blacks the Canaanites in the Bible i.e. descendants of Cain and the black skin was the curse that God placed upon Cain for killing Able. He also said that curse would have died out if Noah's son Ham and not disobeyed and married a woman who was Canaanite. But because he did the race continued. He also caused his son to be cursed by his actions. They were the ones that settled Africa after the flood. He also pointed out the B. Young's views of blacks was the norm for most everyone in the US during that era. With a few exceptions. He held many of the same beliefs and ideas as most people in those days. We are all a product of our generation. Now Joseph Smith was not a liar and a cheat. Did you know him personally to know that he cheated others or do you just believe that because some one told you that, who was told that etc? He also taught that slavery was wrong and so did the LDS prophets after that. But because of an act of congress Utah was a slave state, not because BYoung believed in slavery. He abided by the law of the US gov. If you don't agree with what he said just ignore it. And since being black did not eliminate you from attending BYU that change in doctrine did not have anything to do with needing some running backs, get real.
Most black who are LDS do know what the BOM contains, from my experience they have read and studied it before joining the LDS church. If they are raised LDS they are about like most kids they have read and studied it in seminary.
Most Mormons I know do not follow our Prophet blindly. Yes some do but many do question and ponder what they are told and most even pray about it to get their own personal revelation on what is said. That said with very few major changes having been made by our Prophets in the past 50 yrs. Most are small counsels that have been given in the past and just repeated as we like the children of Israel in the Bible tend to forget, get lazy or justify for ourselves not following.. Yes giving the blacks the priesthood was the biggest change in the past 50 yrs. And as far as some of your scripture quotes from the BOM as in the Bible some things are symbolic and not literal. That includes becoming a white and delightsome people it is referring to their hearts and souls and not their skin color. I suggest a website you would like to see what many black LDS feel about the LDS church. www.ldsgenesisgroup.org

1. One of my dear friends is black and if he doesn't have a problem with it, WHY SHOULD YOU?!
2. What is your BIG problem with the Mormons. Let's see, they don't steal from your store, they don't commit adultery with your wife, they don't flip you off when your driving.
We are god fearing Christians trying to live a clean, moral life. Do me and the other 13,000,000 Mormons a favor and...
STOP!
Maybe you just need some happiness. If so, call the missionaries, they'd love to teach you about God's love. :)
