The problem I have found with that statement is that most (not all) keep going. It does not take a belief in any God(s) to see that you should stop and offer help. They have been brought along your path for another reason than just feeling good about yourself or your God.

I actually like the quote. No one knows why some people are born lucky while others are not. Luck of the draw you might say. To keep my life on track is simple. I don't want to be homeless. Mentally ill, I may not have a choice, but I believe in giving my brain as well as my body a workout.

God is Gracious
Grace is your discipline to be in the space where you hear God, so you are not in the place that is not yours to be in.
In listening to God, you will not turn the wrong corner, be on the plane that crashes, be in the wrong place at the wrong time, you will move easefully in the world, all good things will come unto you.
Each and every choice one makes in this life either takes you away from Gods grace or is Gods grace.
This life is about choice, from go to whoa.
and the next life, and the life prior to this one.
So do you live your life in Gods grace, truly hearing the God within.
Its your choice.

Great quote from Charles Spurgeon...he was asked to come sit with a murderer before the man was executed.
And when he was saying it, in his writings, he was talking how if it was God's grace that Charles knew what monsters lurked in his heart, but it was God's grace that held back his sinful nature.
Spurgeon wasn't looking down on the man...he was realizing how easy it would be for him to be just like that man if it had not been for the redeeming power of God's grace.

I'm really not clear on what that quote is supposed to mean, but I have been as down as you can be... spiritually, physically, and financially. I spent my oldest daughter's first Christmas sleeping in a truck with her abusive father (the baby was somewhere else, safe). That is as down as I got, my low.
Through all that, and of course there was a lot more to it, God showed me that sometimes a person has to get to where they have no way to go BUT up. And that's where I was.

Ye, I do believe that anyone could end up that way, and that it IS only by the grace of God that some of us do not.

You know, I still don't know what this phrase is supposed to mean.
What keeps my life on track? Mostly it's me being in my life's driver's seat, and getting better at driving the more I do it.
