I think the test for honesty is whether you will admit you did or said something wrong. If I told a lie, would I admit it even if it reflects badly on me?
I had a bad experience in honesty in high school. A friend and I were talking and ignored the starting bell. We had to go to the office because we were late to class. My friend explained that her mom had dropped her off late and she was therefore excused. Me, standing behind her, decided to tell the truth and admitted I had been talking to 'someone'. I was given detention; also punished when I got home.
Was it worth it? I have often had to wonder. I still think honesty is the best policy.
Sending you a smile to help pick up your day.
