This is called stage fright and it can really be helpful because it gives you a boost of energy. You are just afraid now and have some symptoms that are not desirable, but you can be a great speaker if you just follow a few little rules.

First of all to help with the dry throat, have a little water and breathe deep at least three times to relieve the stress.

Make sure you really know the subject better than your audience. You need to be the authority on your subject.

Show enthusiasm for and be excited about your subject. Show emotion when you present your information. To practice showing emotion, practice saying the Mary Had a Little Lamb rhyme with feeling and emotion.

Start your speech with something to get every ones attention that relate to the subject. This is called the HO HUM CRASHER !

Next ask and answer the question ... WHY BRING THAT UP? This is the motivation for the audience to listen to you.

The body of you speech really answers that question with FOR INSTANCE, This is why I bring that up.

At the end you conclude by saying SO WHAT do I want you to do with the information I have just presented.

You have to take a bottle of water up there with you! Everyone's mouth gets dry when they're nervous, and double when you're giving a long speech.

You must take water up there with you, and if possible, set it down on a desk, or the podium, or something. Next time will be much easier on you. Good question deserves a star! Good luck to you!! :)

You're being nervous. You need to relax, everything will be fine. Practice at home and in front of your family. If necessary, imagine your audience wearing funny costumes to make you feel better. Or, if you don't like making eye-contact, then look at their foreheads instead. =)
hope it helped!
