Not at all. They just act the way they do because of a chemical imbalence in there brains. They can't help it and with medication, bipolar people are capable of acting completely normal. Its just a myth that bipolar people are "crazy" or have "split personalities". They are mentally ill and can't necessarily help it. Sometimes they will just go off on people randomly or they will break down and cry for no reason. Sometimes, they go off in rages, or they don't talk to people for days at a time. Its something that's wrong with there Seritonin levels and its something that needs to be treated with medication.

Bipolar disorder is a very serious mental illness. In my opinion a person with this illness is "crazy" until proven otherwise by a clinical psychiatrist who can continue to evaluate the situation over the course of their lifetime. People who have bi-polar disorder can be dangerous to themselves and other people as well. It should not be taken lightly! Often times the problem is two big for their loved ones to handle because the person with the disorder do not think they have any thing wrong with them.

My aunt has bipolar and she can be happy, giddy, euphoria feeling, wants to socialize or interact with people, can take on the world feeling, optimistic attitude. Then one moment she will cry for no reason, be depressed, have a negative attitude or outcome on life. Throw things sometimes, wants to be alone, be judgemental and criticize. Hates the world feeling. Yell for no reason. Gets irratable and angry. I know it is a chemical inbalance and somewhat enviromental, and gentics. and just because she has it doesn't mean she is crazy. When she has an episode, the best thing to do is i give her space or try to be there for her. I look at at the postive things about her she is kind and caring person, always there for, willing to lend a hand or listen. I know she means well even when she has an episode. I may be heard sometimes to live with her, but I still love her very much and glad I have her as a part of my life. And she has started taking medication and it has helped quite a bit. If you or a family member has it I wish you the best of luck.

From high to low. From euphoria to depression. From recklessness to listlessness. These are the extremes associated with bipolar disorder, which can be a serious and disabling mental illness. Bipolar disorder is also known as manic-depression or manic-depressive illness — manic behavior is one extreme of this disorder and depression is the other.
Bipolar disorder often begins in adolescence or early adulthood and may persist throughout life. The causes of bipolar disorder are elusive, and there's no cure.
The flares of bipolar disorder may last for weeks or months, causing great disturbances in the lives of those affected, their friends and their families. Left untreated, the condition usually worsens. But bipolar disorder can be managed with medications and other therapies.

No People with Bipolar Disorder are not crazy. This is a common stigma put on those with any mental illness. Bipolar Disorder is a medical condition that is very treatable. There have been many famouse people through out history who suffered with Bipolar. I myself suffer with Bipolar Disorder, and I don't apprciate being called crazy just because i have a medical condition that I can't help

What I love is that people (especially non-professionals) who do not have the disorder seem to think they have it all figured out. Everyone is an individual and it does affect people differently. Some people are so low-functioning that they cannot even get out of bed, others hold high-ranking job positions, etc. etc. & are very successful as human beings... no, we are not all lunatics who kill people or go streaking or f**k everyone we meet. If you knew me..guaranteed you would be surprised to know. I just wish everyone would stop generalizing.
