We're looking for a place where there's a decent balance between outdoor activities and city sight seeing. Would this be a good place? What are some things to do having said that? And is this a bad time of year with the weather getting cooler?

YES! Its BEAUTIFUL. I went this time last year (October) and it was GORGEOUS. Like Vermont in the fall. Simply beautiful and colorful. Weather was perfect fall weather. Also, since I'm a travel agent (i have my own online website, like priceline, travelocity, hotwire, etc), I booked my mom and dad's Canadian vacation and they Also had a wonderful time. They did Prince Edwards Island/Nova Scotia and took the train tour, an all inclusive. There are also some GREAT cruises up there. Not like the ones we're use to out of the U.S.
If you need some help, I'm experienced with this vacation area, so please give my prices a look and my services are free to you of course ;)

P.S. on the Nova Scotia Cruises there are free upgrades right now through the end of December.

Nova Scotia= top notch for vacation. Cape Breton in the fall is one of the most amazing things you will ever see. This year, the Celtic Colours Festival is October 5-13. Its pretty cool. And Halifax has grand stuff to see, like the Maritime Museum, St Mary's Basilica, Citadel Hill, a ton of bars and pubs, and near Halifax is Peggy's Cove, which is a mega-tourist trap place but beautiful all the same.

We went a couple years ago in the summer. There are lots of very cool sites around the Bay of Fundy area (they even have river rafting ... check this out, the tides in the bay can swing by 40 feet ... so the rivers can actually empty out during low tide). We went whale watching closer to the mouth of the bay in the Yarmouth area ... not sure if this is a good time of the year for that but you should check that out. The other very cool place is Cape Breton - the culture and views are fantastic. We didn't do much city-seeing although I have heard Halifax is a very cool place. We also didn't get to Prince Edward Island, but I hear that is also very nice.

Wonderful time of year to visit there, the colorful fall season. For city sights, try Halifax. Temps will be 5-20 F or 50- 70 Deg. Numerous activities, you name it, its there. Travel from one end of the province to the other, its all beautiful. Cape Breton will be a treasured memory. Don't forget to talk to people, another asset.
