We babysit for our friends' 14 month old son. He weighs about 20 lbs, and has 4 bowl movements each day. Often times two while we are watching him. Is there something wrong, should we be concerned?

I need to add that he is _very_ skinny. I know that his mother feeds him a very high fiber diet and a large amounts of beans, that we see undigested in his diapers. He often has two poop diapers with us many hours apart. Is it possible to get too much fiber and not enough other stuff?

NORMAL! My son is also 14 months and he has between 3-4 smeeeeeeeeeeeelly diapers a day! It just means his system is working just fine! At this period, baby is growing so much, so they eat a lot! And of course pooping a lot as well!

My 3.5 year old still has 2 or 3 bm's a day. It's really not a problem as long as it's not chronic diarrhea. He may just not be done when you change him. Some kids can take quite a while to actually finish.

I don't think so. My daughter is 15 months and there are days she poops 3 or 4 times.

It could just be that his metabolisim is really fast. The only way to test it is to give him some real whole kernel corn and see how long it takes to come out. If it comes out in the next poop he does, well there's your answer. As long as he's not bothered by it and they are actually BMs and no diarehhea, then don't be concerned.

Babies are not supposed to eat alot of fiber!!!It makes them poop. If my 21 month old brother eats a high fiber granola bar, he poops alot!

just 4 poopy nappies a day? is that all? god my 2 oldest boys used to give me about 6 of them because they were obsessed with eating vegemite sandwiches and weet-bix lol.

Look at what your feeding him and discuss it with his mother on what she's feeding him it could just be he has good bowels or he is eating the wrong kind of food's that is causing him to do it so much , how much water are you giving him to drink compared to cordial or baby formula's ?.

He may just be on a high fiber diet.

If the child is eating and is healthy then no. It just means that the plumbing works.
