Most of them only care about looks and don't get a chance to find out the girls real personality.
There are a few good ones out there.
The guys who judge a girl on their personality are usually the nerdy type and not very exciting. The girls go for the exciting ones but the nerdy ones are the ones that last a long time.

If it's a matter of food and drink, maybe guys don't want to be broke from feeding the girls.

Hang in there you will find a guy that thinks with his heart and brain instead of his other parts. Not all guys are like that. The media does not help in this case either. Every where you look it is crammed down your throat that tooth pick thin is beautiful Beauty is in the soul and heart not just outer extremities. The guys that don't see this.it is them that loose not you.

guys are "visual", no matter what their age-they oogle women.
i just saw a picture joke thing that was of a gorgeous woman-i mean g.o.r.g.e.o.u.s!
the caption read, "No matter how good she make look right now, somebody, somewhere is tired of putting up with her sh**!"
It is labeled "Reality". So if you don't happen to have a super figure, so what? Eventually guys grow up and even tho they may oogle women, they end up choosing a lady who emits confidence.

I've been overweight ever since I started public school. I feel in love with a young man my senior year in high school. He was not overweight, but his mom was. I don't know why he dated me, but he did. We were both very happy. He was a great husband. (Got killed 2000).
To answer your question...
In casual settings people go on looks first. In settings like working together, going to school together, going to church together people can get to know each other. When you get to know someone and you like them looks doesn't matter as much..

guys go for hott girls, girls go for hott guys. thats the way it goes. no shallowness, just nature. you gotta be attracted to the person youre with... and you dont want someone who will eat you or sit on you!
