I wouldn't kill him but I certanly disarm him in any way without killing him. But I would rather die than kill someone else.

Wow did you twist and put a spin on that one. First off just because a burglar shoots someone doesnt mean that the person who got shot and killed will go to heaven. Thier is more involved in gettting into heaven than getting shot by a burglar. Second if the burglar trys to harm my son he's a dead man. Third if he shoots you and gets away to shoot again how much good have you done? Fourth you somehow ended up in the wrong category. Take that as a clue about your reasoning skills.

Neither can you fool God by your 'entrapment' questions. Actually God said in N.T. not to wrangle over words and meanings of words so I will not answer this question except to say I would kill a burglar. I know I would because I almost did once out of pure fear. While God punishes those who disobey Him, He is also a just, loving, kind God who forgives and knows that we cannot possibly live up to all His commands. Thank God Jesus did that and I will be forgiven because of His sacrifice. God is great.

Sending you a smile to help pick up your day.

Edit: There is a difference in motives in killing. I would not want to kill a burglar. God knows we are human and knows we will not always obey. The God I worship is like a judge in court---after all, the sense of justice comes from God. Is it just to kill in self-defense? God does not carry a belt to beat His children. He understands them.

Kill as in murder. Are you telling me you actually believe that if you kill in defense of your life or your children's lives you will go to hell? Nowhere in the Bible does it say that.

You're an atheist, aren't you? Why are you people so angry toward anybody who believes in God? It looks to me as if you desperately want what we have, but you don't want to admit it. Or maybe you think you're not good enough to please some stereotype "tzar of the heavens" who you've confused with your impossible-to-please father figure, and that makes you resentful. And you think we think we're better than you. Whatever. I would suggest you get that chip off your shoulder and either address these feelings of inadequacy, or find an atheists' site to rant on.

What twist? There is a definite difference between killing and murder. If I take out someone who is going to take me out, I am justified. Even the laws of our land have something called "Justifiable Homocide".

But, if I were to kill someone because I hated them, or to steal from them or because they were "in my way", that would be murder and that would be wrong.

I am not fooling God. I live according to the words He had faithful people write - the Bible.

Wrong. God punishes those that MURDER! Big difference when compared to killing. Let's say you let this robber go and somewhere down the line he finds stealing no longer thrills him so he decides to up the thrill and kill the next person(s) he robs. Would you want the blood of a future victim on your hands?

Self defense is not a sin. Besides, God has an angel just for fighting battles, ever heard of Michael the arch angel? There is a difference between murdering someone and self defense. Just like there is a difference between murder and fighting in a war/battle.

Do you think there were no biblical killings? The bible draws a distinction between murder and justifiable killings. Do some reading on Samson. Read about when God ordered Jerico taken. Mothers and daughters, sons and men were all killed equally, none were spared. Get your facts straight.

If a burglar was coming in my house to steal and hurt my daughter I would kill him and spend my life in hell...no problem on that one. If he was just coming into steal my things, he could have them...but how would I know he would not hurt my child? I would gladly spend eternity in hell for her safety. I am not trying to justify anything with this answer...it is simple.

I have no belief in hell and as such, no problem shooting a burglar who wishes to harm me. Of course, the harm me is the key. If he just ran away I would let him.

I would shoot him. And not go to Hell. God does not forbid us to protect ourselves or our families. Not sure where you got that. If killing in protection of your family or nation was wrong why would God have helped the Israelite army win so many battles.
