Okay, I have this pain that associates with basically every symptom of appendicitis. I went to the doctor and they said that I was I had some stool backed up in my colon, so they put me on a laxative. It worked and I got cleaned out and everything, but I still had the pain (it down-graded somewhat). I'm going for an ultra sound soon and I was wondering if you guys thought it might be appendicitis. I just want to be prepared.

P.S. I'm 13 years old and a female.

Appendicitis is almost always an acute condition, that is, once it starts, it progresses to the point of bursting unless surgical intervention is taken. Experts have long debated whether there is such a thing as chronic appendicitis. A few respected surgeons claim that the condition exists, but the evidence is debated by most others.

You may have an ovarian cyst with a twisted pedicle as a cause of your pain. Another rather uncommon possibility is a Meckel's diverticulum. This is an embryonic remnant found in 2% of the population, but in some, the diverticulum is lined with gastric mucosa and the acid it secretes causes the pain. It is not easy to detect. Keep talking with your doctor.

It can't be. Appendicitis is a very acute situation, that must be treated immediately. Appendicitis pain starts as a generalized and mild abdomen pain/idiscomfort feeling, and localized in a few hours at the lower right of the abdomen as a sharp feeling of pain. If not treated in this period of time mostly it peforates and if it perforates patient mostly dies. Your problem must be something different, such as an ovarial cyst and your periodical pains explain that.
