Ironically, by banning it, you start your own.

It's an interesting thought but stronger men (Stalin) tried it and they ended up becoming the religion (the drug) of the people.

It's natural - people need to have their fix of drug (religion) to feel good.

If it's not one religion or personality, it's another. It's all cult. Impossible to stop.

But it's a good idea you propose in theory. In practice it would fall apart. People are just too stubborn, even if they are wrong.

I dont think you know what religion really is.

So you would ban all fans of football?
Baseball? Pro Wrestling? Heavy investors? Evolutionists?
American Indians? Rock groups? Naturalists?

A religion is a set of common beliefs and practices generally held by a group of people, often codified as prayer, ritual, and religious law.

Religion also encompasses ancestral or cultural traditions, writings, history, and mythology, as well as personal faith and mystic experience.

The term "religion" refers to both the personal practices related to communal faith and to group rituals and communication stemming from shared conviction.

Religion is often described as a communal system for the coherence of belief focusing on a system of thought, unseen being, person, or object, that is considered to be supernatural, sacred, divine, or of the highest truth.

Moral codes, practices, values, institutions, tradition, rituals, and scriptures are often traditionally associated with the core belief, and these may have some overlap with concepts in secular philosophy.

Religion is also often described as a "way of life".

So if you got thru all that, you see that religion does not always have to do with any kind of deity.

Everything I have mentioned above and more, can in one way or the other be referred to as a religion.
Whatever you have faith in,
that is your religion.

Why don't you do other reasonable things as well, such as banning people from thinking about sex? A religion is merely a set of beliefs, and beliefs are thoughts. So, banning particular thoughts simply makes sense, right?

You give atheists a bad name. Banning something often encourages it, and is contrary to all this nation stands for (that would be freedom of religion, not a state church, for those who don't know)

Sorry, got to join the crowd on this one. Well, I'm not going to evoke Satan or God or anything, but I do think that would be as unjustified as forcing religion on someone.

There is no way you can control people's hearts and minds.
I think it is sad that you would believe in dictatorship. I wonder why you don't move to a Communist country since you believe in mind control.
A few of you atheists are more closed-minded and controlling than most Christians.

And I as well. After reading "God is not Great"--How Religion Poisons Everything, and The God Delusion, I can only conclude that we on this planet would be much better off without religions.... any religions.
