Yes, you can gain some weight from skipping a bunch of meals because your body goes into 'starvation mode' where it starts storing excess fat and any little food you do eat is stored as fat.

You need to eat breakfast. It is probably the single most important meal. Your body has just gone 7-10 hours without eating, it needs fuel. I admit I never feel like eating in the morning but I know I have to because the system needs the food. Skipping breakfast could cause weight gain, again because of the starvation mode and going from dinner one night all the way to lunch the next day.

That's why people going on diets should break up 1300-1600 calories among 5-7 meals daily to keep their metabolism up and help aid in weight loss.

Skipping meals does not make yuo gain weight, however it does not increase weight loss. Breakfast is the most important meal to the body, as long as it is nutritional and healthy. When you wake up in the morning your body need to be re energized, eating kickstarts your metabolism for the rest of the day, promoting energy and a healthy fat burner. You tend to think better, and focus better when you'be eaten a healthy breakfast.
I was bulimic about a year ago and bulimic and aneorexic people lose weight very fast becuase they are losing lots of water weight and muscle. Not eating at all will starve your body into using up everything it can, including the fat. But if you are simply skipping the most important meal of the day, it's not healthy. I still get in trouble for not eating enough, no i'm not skinny. I'm fit, but I don't have a great self image, making me eat less without thinking abuot it. For breakfast I just grab a protein bar (it's chocolate, and who doesn't love chocolate in the morning?) and an orang, or strawberrid, any fruit. This doesn't sound like much, but it will at least energize your body, and speed up your metabolism.
hope this helps. And it doesn't matter if you are skinny or not, eat your breakfast!

Well, the breaking down of food raises the body's metabolism and contributes to the body's basal and resting metabolic rates which together are normally around 2000-2200 calories per day. That basically means you burn around 2000 calories per day doing relatively no physical activity. Not eating will lower your metabolic rate, therefore when you do eat, the calories from that meal will be more likely to be stored as fat.

That is why it is good to eat around 4 small meals per day starting with breakfast and ending about 4-5 hours before you go to sleep. The small meals are just enought to keep your body's "furnace" going without overloading it with too many calories, which would then be stored as fat. That is why seldom, big meals throughout the day are bad and small, frequent meals are good. Hope this helps.

Ideally you should be eating 3 meals a day but don't force yourself to eat. Just eat healthy food and make sure your last meal is before 7 in the evening. Eating healthy, exercise and determination Will make you lose weight, plus keep off the fizzy juices and alcohole as it makes you bloated and drink plenty of water, don't eat chocolate what ever you do! lol Good luck, just remember though if you can't do it don't beat yourself up. You will be beautiful no matter what way you look :)

Yes, when skipping breakfast you DO gain weight. Your body needs the energy so it will use some of the things your body has been saving and it will make you gain weight. Also skipping breakfast isn't good for your body, you need that food for in the morning when your at school learning new things. So eat a healthy breakfast before going to school!

you're body needs at least 1200 cal a day just to carry on normal body functions such as breathing, movement, seeing, feeling, thinking and cellular functions as well. when you get under this amount your body thinks that there is some kind of starvation period going on and stores everything you eat as fat rather than using it immediately for energy. people with anorexia lose weight because they have a mental problem where they just refuse to eat very much food for very very long periods of time. a normal person's body and mind won't allow this. breakfast is the most important meal of the day because it sets your blood sugar level for the rest of a day. skipping breakfast can induce weight gain (because your blood/sugar level is bouncing up and down a lot through out the day which makes your body store fat more easily) it can also induce diabetes and other metabolic diseases which are not fun to have to live with the rest of your life.

Skipping meals slows your metabolism. When you skip meals your body will hold on to what food you do give it for fear that you won't give it anything else to eat for a long while. When you eat more times per day roughly about 6 times your body willl burn calories faster because it knows its getting more fuel shortly....

Aneorexics become deathly thin because they have a disease...a disease that will kill you. Eating three meals a day and not binging ( or even 6 small meals) and not binging will set your bodys metabolism to a steady rate. If you skip meals you throw off your blood sugar, etc. and throw your body into confusion. Please..do not even use aneorexia as a example in skipping meals..very different.

skipping meals screws up your metabolism so when you do eat, your body doesn't process the calories very fast.

If you want to lose weight or sustain weight, eat frequent small meals (especially breakfast) and pay attention to the nutrients you are getting. Eat lighter meals later at night when you won't be burning as many calories.
