Here is a site with Colleges & Universities in Northern Virginia. It is hard to recommend a school without knowing what you want to study.
Marymount has an excellent Reputation.

George Washington U is supposed to be good as well.

I had family in Arlington for many, many years and I would recommend the area to anyone/everyone!

I went to Georgetown which is a great University. Rent and all other comps compared to Miami will be about the same. Traffic in the DC/N. Virginia is terrible. The weather in the winter can be extreme, and as far as night life, nothing compares to Miami. Visit the area before making such a move. I went to school there from Dallas, TX and was shocked at how diverse it was. Obviously a very political area, and to me VERY conservative. Just my two cents. Hope it helps.

George Mason is well respected. They have one of the few Conflict Resolution programs in the country. There are well-paying jobs, and unemployment is low. Rent can be high, although it should compare to Miami: personally, you should look to share a place.

If you're going to move here, don't live in VA. Especially if you like having fun. They have this law in Northern Virginia where you can't tell jokes. No jokes means no fun.
