when someone thinks they have several illnesses but they really dont have any.....

i.e, the person that sees tv commercials and thinks they have every symptom and therefore MUST have it.

what is this called. please help!!

Hypochondria, although in a medical student it is called "medical student syndrome" because medical students often go through a phase where they think they have every disease they read about (chromophobe adenoma, schisosomiasis, yaws, orf, scoppy fever, etc.).

The distinction here is whether the individual is aware that the illness is fabricated. If they truly believe that they are ill, it is hypochondria. But if they are aware of the fabrication, it is Munchausen Syndrome.

they are all correct. its someone who thinks they have everything they see and hear about.
