When you select the word "other" from a drop down list, it will automically open comment for that cell asking to input a name

Yes, that would be possible, but you'd have to write a macro in order to make Excel do that. But if you write a macro for something like that. It would be better to use a message box than to use a comment ask the person to input a name.
