I am having a problem with someone in my neighborhood letting their dog poop in my yard and then not pick it up. This woman is highly obese and makes a big deal about having to pick it up when I am around to witness it. The problem is that I work very long hours and I can not be there to guard my yard against the onslaught of pet poo from her and her pet....

I do plan on confronting her but have not been around when she is walking her dog lately. Tonight I came home to a fresh pile right where I take out the garbage cans for the morning pick-up. I am a bit fed up at this point.

Does anyone have any ideas on ways that I can get my point across when I am not home? A sign that says that I appreciate pet owners picking up their dog's crap?? I am frustrated and hope that someone can help me a bit here. Thanks in advance.

You know I have seen these signs in people yards that have a little dog on it with and X across the dog meaning, no dogs allowed in my yard. Other then that, I would just talk to her or pick up the poop and place in on her door step, ring the bell and say to her when she open the door...you forgot something.

No i don't why should the poor dog suffer where would the dog go rescue centres are already full and so many are put to sleep every year as there aren't enough homes . I do believe if you don't want to pick up then you should have a dog in the first place. We have three dogs and i would never not pick up it is part of be a responsible pet owner. Most dog owners do pick up it is just the few who don't and nothing angry's good dog owner more than people who don't they give us good ones a bad name. I beleive the ones who don't need to be punicshed harder for there crime. They can in Uk be fined up to £1000 which is good but i aslo believe that they should be given community punishment. They could make them go and pick up in areas that bad for owners just like them don't pick up. I would make them wear a bright coloured tunic so people could see that they are being punished and maybe it would deter the bad owners when they seem what could happen to them. We use to have a dog warden in are area but the council got rid of them. I beleive we need them back they could be paid for by the fines the council can give the owners.

Ok- I have had much trouble with this as well. Although the law is on your side... the police have child molesters and drug dealers to catch. I tried bagging it and leaving it on their doorstep. It didn't work for me- but it may for you. The sign in the yard worked for a while- until someonw removed the sign. I took that as a sign of war and started leaving the poo- unbagged on their walkway- this worked. I would not suggest skipping the ifrst steps thoug. I am unconfrontational and could never "talk" to anyone about it. But if you are not an anti-social person, give it a try. She will probably try to blame it on someone else since she does pick it up when you are present.

Good luck with this. These are the dog owners who give the rest of us dog owners a bad name. I would go online and print out where she can buy a pooper scooper that has a long handle and she doesn't have to bend over to pick it up then give her the sheet of paper. I'd also pick up what was left by her dog and deposit it on her lawn. Do this a few times and I think she'll get the hint to stay off your lawn. You could also try spraying your grass where her dog is always going with something that repels dogs from going in certain areas. If the dog doesn't go there he can't poop there. Good luck.

Well, call a city official or the police and find out if there is a law or ordinance that requires pet owners to pick up after their dog. If so, get a recording device, catch her in the act and show it to the police. End of story.

What seems to have worked for other people who have posted about this is sending the dog crap back to the owner, leaving on the porch, etc.

Is there a leash law in your county? In many muncipalities a dog owner can be fined for letting their dog crap and not picking it up. See if you have a local ordinance then get out the digital camera and call the code enforcement people.

Although El Duderino's comment was a little immature, I found it REALLY hilarious, and whoever thumbs downed makes me sad :(

Come on people, lets have a LITTLE fun with this shall we?

Anyways, you could always go with the old college prank idea, and set the bag of poop on FIRE on her front porch. :)

Butttt--- if we're going mature, I definatley would suggest posting a sign saying: "If your dog craps in my yard, I'll return it to you."

That way it won't be a surprise when they find a bag full of sh*t on their porch.

Or you could just let it be a surprise, and put it on her porch, and if it doesn't work, get a shovel, and leave it on her porch unbagged. When she steps in it in when she walks out the door, I'm sure she'll get the point.
Plus, she'll have to bend down to clean her shoe, so either way, she'll have to stop being lazy and take responsibility of herself.

Get a small fence charger and some white step in posts. Put a single strand of hot wire up low enough that the dog can't get under, yet high enough that the gal can't comfortably step over. Or put up two strands....and of course, a nice informative sign that says "Warning...electric fence". Bet it'd be a shocking experience for her.

Put up a sign that says
No Trespassing
Violators will be shot.

No just call her or leave her a note or something, it's her responsibility to pick that up and you shouldn't feel rude letting her know that.

If I were you I would put up a sign clean up after your dog.
Or get some short fence that is used for flower beds and put that around your yard.
