i thought that it breaks ur blood vessels and gives u a bruise?

not at all!
if you get one... then good for you!
it's no more worse than a bruise, it's just blood vessels near the surface of the skin swelling and bursting trying to repair any harm done, and will go away on its own.

Hickeys are not cancerous and are not unhealthy. Too many too soon on a single area may cause some redness and a bit of inflammation of the tiny skin blood vessels and may leave a more permanent mark.
I had one one and no one noticed!
