my husband got custody back of his kids, but was told that he could not reside with me. is this true? i never put the kids in any kind of danger.

And you are married? Someone isn't telling the truth somewhere...if you are legally married then no judge is going to tell him he can't live with you.

For reasons unbeknown to us there has to be a reason why the Judge felt this would be in the best interest of all parties,especially the children, to do this. But yes the Judge can do whatever has to be done to preserve the peace thats within his powers. Now he can only order it,he doesnt have the power to see it happen and if nothing ever happens,the Judge will never know

It would depend on if you have been in trouble with the law, or had mental or addiction problems, or have taken actions (fighting, yelling, mental abuse) that the judge felt might negatively impact on the children. Then he can make it a condition of custody that you not be with the children's father while the children are there, or that you not be residing with him.
If it is just the father and not the law telling you this, it might be his way of getting you out of his life.
If I were you I would ask to see the papers and find out exactly why and what they did say.
