I think they are, although I know they don't see themselves in that light. Can't see the forest through the trees.

What, in your opinion, is "unachievable"?? Being a good person? Trusting God? Obeying the laws of the land?
If you believe Christians are hypocrites for doing those things, you have a strange set of principles, dear one.
God bless!

wow...excellent question!!
Yes..as a believer I'll be the first to agree with you...the Bible does set up unachievable high standards....that's what we've been saying all along. That's why not one of us can EARN our way in...the standards of perfection are too high. And this is why Jesus had to die in our place...He needed to impute His righteousness on to our account.
Now...we admit we weren't meeting the standards, and stil lcan't meet the standards until we've been set free of our sinful nature (which won't happen until after death).
Ironic isn't it...we agree on the same things.. failed the standards before I came to Christ, will continue to fail until I'm reunited with Christ. Now..help me out...where's the hypocrisy ? This is exactly what the Bible says I was like before Christ, and how I am today...so...again...where's the hypocrisy?
Imagine you never thought of your question as being an excellent way to better understand why Jesus needed to pay the sacrifice.

No. The Bible was never supposed to be taken as if it fell out of the sky. It is a compilation of works written over centuries that spell out the evolution of a people and a culture/religion from which the basic Christian theology is adapted.
The real problem with most Christians is that they don't really worship a god at all anymore (Catholics exempt) , they worship a collective work of classical literature.

What you don't know about our faith could fill the World Book Encyclopedia plus the Google Search Engine my friend.
When you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior - those "unachiveable high standards" you refer to, suddenly become very achievable.
You see, that's what HE died for. HE was perfect so we wouldn't have to be.
Are you starting to get it now? Why don't you take a remedial course in Basic Christianity 101 and come back when you can ask a more intelligent question.

No! But I do understand what you are saying. The Bible says that Christians should be like Jesus who sinned not. Even on my best day, I've sinned. An immoral thought, acted upon or not is a sin. To strive for perfection is the catalyst that keeps Christians going and strive to be the best saint they can be. When I pray, I don't pray for a new car, I pray for a car dealership. I don't pray for a house, I pray to own Century 21. You follow me? The Bible's standards is what you believe. If you believe you can achieve, you will recieve. Doubt it, you'll do without it. Without faith, it is impossible to please God!

I wouldn't consider my self a hypocrite, if I know I could never achieve those high standards.
That's why I accepted Jesus.
It's by the Grace of God that I can stand before His throne.

Luckily, a lot of Christians ignore the standards and strange scripture in the Bible, so I'm ok with them for now.

Hypocrates was not a Christian, nor are all the doctors who take the Hypocratic Oath. Most Christians don't take the Hypocratic Oath, so it's hard to see how they could all be Hypocrates...

I know you mean hypocrite;
I am a child of God and He and I are working things out in my life where He is changing me and I have asked Him to forgive and deliver me from hypocrisy
He can and will and is doing it
for which I thank Him
