I have an advanced degree. Not in that kind of science though. If I want to know something about science, I ask either Brilliant Blue or Darkly Dreaming Scarlett. However, I do know a thing or two about various mythologies, world history, assorted theologies, philosophy, sociology, genetics, paleontology and biology. That psychology thing, well , that just gives me fits, LOL Oh, and at one sad point in my life, I did memorize the bible. Forwards and backwards.

I'm somewhat in agreement but I know myself to well to say that I would attend a "regularly scheduled anything" with regularity. I'm more inclined to say that a variety of events run at willy-nilly times would be more to my liking. Woodstock today and a kool white-night celebration a few weeks later, and follow that with a secular Christmas party.... these are the things that attract me. Even eating a daily afternoon meal is a tad to regularly scheduled for my liking.

I fully agree with you about gatherings being fun... There is a "chruch" for atheists in Texas... I don't know much about it though. And here's a twist... I actually enjoy the few times a year that I am called upon to accompany my very, very old father to his church... He attends a quite modern Community Christian church called Willow Creek in Barrington, Illinois... They have a website - look it up and you'll see why I enjoy it. It's big - enormous big - and it offers it's services in a very secular way. One is barely aware that he is in a church at all.

You have to include different casseroles made by Older ladies that can really cook and a lot of chicken. If you add that then it would be comparable to what we do. But we usually do that after a church service....so when would you guys do it...hmm...that's a tough one can't do it on Sunday, thats our day (could be taken that you are observing the sabbath)....*GRIN*

That would be great. I would love to buy you a cone! The problem is Atheists are not that organized and there is not enough of us.

Yeah you know cults have good organization skills you have to give them that.

Hey although ur just joking around i think you've hit the nail on the spot for a much bigger issue.

Untill atheists can become more of a community we will always be spit on and ostracized both socially and legaly. Sleep on that thought...

I suppose an ice cream banquet would be a great concilation prize after missing out on being at the banquet table with the one who created the stars! (Imagine the food He's going to put on that table - some how I just don't think calories are going to be a problem).

Interesting choice...ice cream...is that subliminal? Are you still thinking about fire and brimstone?

Seriously...atheists aren't the only ones with a sense of humor. *grin*

Sadly, you're not even close to the advantages we have. Fortunately, you can get them too!

Eric S wrote "Untill atheists can become more of a community we will always be spit on and ostracized both socially and legaly. Sleep on that thought..."

Eric S, actually it was Jesus who was spat on and ostracized socially and legally...before He was painfully crucified to die for our sins.

Sleep on that fact.
