Why do peacocks raise their feathers around females? To get noticed, when hormones take over we have an urge to prove our strength, agility, sense of humor, courage.. in what ever way we can. Usually it's spur of the moment, and some of us just can't think straight when there are girls around (I assume you're young) This doesn't go away when we get older, we just get better at it. ;-)

Boys are less mature than girls in terms of social interactions.
Girls learn such lessons almost from the day they are born, whereas boys suddenly need to interact at around the age of fourteen never having done so up until then! It is not surprising that they generally make a monumental **** up of it!

This is a very old form of the mating ritual even for people so young. Girls and boys are not aware of it most of the time and cover it up with slagging and joking.

Boys think girls are different in some mystical way. It is a natural way to keep your attention in hopes you may or may not be interested. That goes away with experience and age (for most).

it dates back to the cave man days I think.... Men banging their chests and waving their fists is like the original version of kicking each other in the shins and jumping off walls. They're just trying to show the ladies that they are virile and manly.... bless their cotton sox.

I reckon it's hormonal. I personally used to make short unrecognisable noises instead of talking, then trip over something and make a right %$! of myself, at least untill my hormones calmed down a bit.
