Baptists, or other religions? Brigham Young had about 40 wives, but Catholic priests can't even have one wife. What's up with this?

At one time, when he was "creating" Adam and Eve, and also when he drowned everybody but Noahs family, god was quite fascinated with incest. So fascinated, in fact, that he made it an absolute necessity. Then, sometime later, he changed his mind, and incest became a very serious taboo. Then, later on, he became fascinated with the concept of multiple wives. He had already experimented with a no wife policy when setting down the rules for Catholic priests. We all know what a wonderful idea that was, and the Catholic church has now paid out about 800 MILLION dollars in settlements as a result. Evidently he decided at some point that he would give limited permission (limited to Mormen men) to have many wives. Apparently he wanted to see if giving this group some REAL earthly pleasures (instead of having them forego any fun until the "afterlife" as he requires of most others) would work out any better than the Catholic disaster. This just proves that god is willing to try new things, and change the rules from time to time.

You don't understand the sacred nature of the marriage covenant. The marriages performed within the temples are done by priesthood authority for time and all eternity. That is not something that can be offered to the world at large. If they want to be a part of the new and everlasting covenant, then they have to fulfill all the requirements just like the Latter-day Saints must. As for plural marriage, it was a special situation placed upon our people at that point in time for the purpose of caring for the women, building the membership and giving a test to the members to see if they would obey every word that comes from God. They obeyed and were sorely tried as a result. This is not something we asked for but that was required of us. When the purpose was fulfilled, it was removed from us and it was no longer required of us. I speak as if it were present yet it belonged to our people over 117 years ago.
The covenant of marriage belongs to the holy priesthood and not to the world at large so it could not be offered to other sects.
Your tone is not sincere, rather it is rather sacreligious.
I do hope you will think more seriously about sacred things than you are now doing.

Wow. There are a lot of people here that like to answer without really knowing anything.
First, Mormons believe in the King James version of the Bible. It's the most widely accepted English translation of the Bible today. Mormons have another book called the Book of Mormon that they also believe to be scripture. The principle of polygamy as well as that of concubines comes from the Bible, not the Book of Mormon. Several prophets and kings in the old testament were even commanded to take a second or multiple wives in order to raise seed unto God. In the bible itself, this "commandment" comes and goes several times. Joseph Smith claimed that this law was given to his followers again, as in the days of ancient scripture. However, Mormons now days DO NOT believe in polygamy and they have never believed in a harem (having concubines). In fact, people found to be polygamists are excommunicated from the religion. So yet again, this "commandment" came and went in yet another religion.
As a side note, if God could talk to people in ancient times, He sure better be able to talk to us now. You just have to decide who He's talking to. Good luck!

Allah is the comparable God as those of the extremely some Christian faiths (Catholic, Protestant, Mormon etc). Buddha grow to be/is a guy or woman to emulate in basic terms, he's no longer a God, yet he grow to be a Bodhitsatva. Odin, Thor, Vishnu etc are junior Gods interior of their respective religions.

God didn't. That law is one that Smith cooked up. That's why Mormonism is considered a cult.

As far as Catholic priests not being allowed to marry, look at the damage from THAT.

Neither is of God.

God bless!

God does not approve of multiple wives. As shown in Genesis and Matthew

Genesis 2:24 For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.

Matthew 19:4"Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,' 5and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'? 6So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

Notice it says "wife" not wives

Well, there are only so many wives to go around. And those Mormons are awfully white and stuff. Catholics seem to make do just fine with one wife anyway, what with the rampant breeding.

Catholics and Protestants weren't lucky enough to find inscribed gold tablets out in a field somewhere, and even if they had found some, they wouldn't have had the magic stones necessary to translate them.

I'm not knowledgeable about Mormons but I assume they pick the Old Testament passages about multiple wives. The New Testament assigns one husband to one wife. Yes, Jesus sort of changed the law. But really, He fulfilled it. The Old Covenant (Old Testament law) was good but the New Covenant (New Testament) He brought was perfect.

G-d didn't say it was OK for Mormons to have harems. That was Joseph Smith. Smith started a cult so he and his friends could get laid by 20+ stupid gullible chicks. The link goes to a list of stupid women.
