Mutual willingness. That's it. If you both want it, and there are no legal, ethical, religious, romantic, physical, or safety reasons prohibiting you from doing so, then there is nothing to stop two people from having sex if they want to.

Janugirl, the only factor that I would consider from a female giving it up on her first date would be rather she was a tramp. No guy is going to get serious about a girl that will give herself to him on their first date. He may take advantage of her and call the odd time when he wants to get it on but he will not want a relationship with her. He will certainly question how many times this has happened with her in the past. And if she attempts to tell him that this has never happened before he'll probably question the truthfullness of this statement. Sad as it is to admit, guys like ladies and not tramps. Girls who have some self confidence and do not feel like they have to try and get his attention by sleeping with him on the first date. Boy is this ever making me feel old talking like this, but sadly it was true in my day and still remains that way today in long term relationships.

If you want to then do it. Don't play games. If it's meant to be it will be. If you wait to have sex and the other person is not interested you will only have invested more time. If the other person is interested and you do it on the first date and they lose respect for you they aren't worth it. Enjoy, but be safe.
