It seems to me that quoting out of the bible is a largly pointless exercise whatever your beliefs. The bible is not a pure text and the question of how the bible was put together, who decided that these particular books and letters were the definitively the word of god and so on is something that to me, puts a whole question mark over taking the bible to literally.
God is a personal belief as well as a religious and cultural one. Why do you think so many wars are fought over what form God should take and the so called importance of being 'right' to the exclusion of all other points of view.
People can and do reconcille their religious beliefs with their sexuality and these people I have more respect for, because sexuality in the context of religion is a side issue that really shouldn't matter. I don't need to take quotes out of a mis-quoted and mis-understood set of texts in order to justify being right. I just know this to be true from life experience.
Therefore the answer to your question (for me) is God cares about harmony and understanding. God cares about every single one of us for all our quirks, differences and oddities.

Anti-gay evangelicals need something to rally the troops and bring in money. They've found it in homophobia. They've focused so much on homophobia, taking civil rights away from gay Americans and shaming gay people into believing that we need to "change" our natural sexual orientation that they've turned homophobia into idolatry. God has given the false prophet leaders of anti-gay, pro-homophobia organizations and churches up to a rebrobate mind. At this point, they are so caught up in their sin of homophobia that they are not going to repent and change their hateful ways. As long as they can make a buck off the misery they cause gay Americans, they will keep up trying to convince America that homophobia is "love." And we gay children of God will have to endure the trickle down effect of their bigotry.

First off, you nor anyone else knows if a god exists, much less what he/she approves of.
That being said, religion is about controlling others, and one weay of doing that is promoting bigotry - the equivalent of "my dog's better than your dog."

If your interpretation of this verse is correct, then why does the same Apostle Paul who wrote this letter also condemn men lusting after men and women lusting after women in at least two of his letters?
I think that you misunderstand what Paul was saying here.
