Given in answer to an earlier question about monsters in the book of Revelations.
How many of you out there actually believe this?

I love ponies and they are descendants of unicorns. Unicorns are in the Bible. So, the Bible must be true because my love of ponies is more of a priority than making sense.

what was the question? I mean, there are many metaphors used - of course - in the Book of Revelations. And it could only be described with the words they knew back then... of course they're not talking about a monster like in Monsters Inc. or in a horror movie, but the end result - the outcoming - is the same.
The Revelations tell you how there's going to be a third world war, how the European Union and the (not yet existing) Northamerican Union will compromise, how the Catholic Church plays a huge role in all this...
but it's just too much to get into detail...
anyways, if you want to find out what's going to happen in the near future (spritiually and politically) do your research... nowadays you can google just about everything... and start with the Mark of the Beast... simply because we already have a RFID chip and people already use it... ;)

John used apocalyptic (figurative) writing in The Revelation so the letter could be passed from congregation to congregation without the fear of additional persecution from Rome.
It is my understanding that most of The Revelation is written about Rome and its fall, not about the end of the world. The Beast, 666, and the other figurative language describe entities in the Empire. The seven churches of Asia were easily able to understand without John specifically naming names.

Not only do I not think it's true, I think God Himself arranged for there to be proof of the falsity of that statement in the Bible itself. Such proof may be found by a careful reading of I Kings Chapter 7. I don't remember the exact verse, but it's talking about a big round thing measuring 30 cubits around the edge and 10 cubits across. That gives a value for the number pi of EXACTLY 3, which is of course ridiculous.

Monsters? I always assumed that the 'scorpion stings' were Apache gunships or armor piercing weaponry.
The 'beast' is a person, as are the 'seas' that they come out of. You really do need to gain understanding from the Holy Spirit. Without it, you might as well try to decode a treasure map without the code key.

I think the symbolism is a really great way to get the word of the Lord over.... brilliant thinking there.
Fortunately we seem to have a load of people who God has granted the power of interpretation of these symbols. Thank goodness for that.
Otherwise it might have looked like a load of medieval rantings designed to scare the **** out of the peasantry if they didnt pay their tythes.

too many facts that were doctrine.and can by simple logic today (no mater how good) are just can not be possiable.
Make up the difference in simple time line.
65 billion years the fosils and 6 thousand religous years.
sorry It is still the foundation of our legal system..

if it's in the bible, it is true, but not always literal. especially in revelation. of course many of those things are not literal. the book of daniel plainly said that many of the beasts it described were human governments past present and future. even jesus is described as a lamb. surely that is not totally literal.

Revelations doesn't speak of monsters. It talks about the beast and the dragon. The antichrist and satan in symbolistic format. Nice try.
