I am not gay but I do not know that being gay is a sin for others. I know it would be a sin for me. Assuming that "sin" means "to miss the mark", it would be a sin for me for two reasons. The first is that my aim excludes homosexual behavior because I do not believe it is the abundant life. The second reason is because I can control my behavior.
I do not know that homosexual behavior is a sin for others because I don't know what their values (aims) are, and secondly because I do not know if they have control over their behavior.
Before it became a "life style" homosexuality was considered a perversion. That is to say that the personalities of those who these days assume the identity of "a homosexual" were once considered to have suffered some circumstance which "twisted" the normal expression of their physical gender into an attraction to the same sex. For many years homosexuality was considered to be a product of environment. In recent years many have claimed that it is genetic. Whatever the actual case, it is my understanding that, even in Christianity, intent and free will are necessary components of sin. I personally know that some behaviors which are a result of psychological conditioning are all but impossible to consistently control by acts of will. Child abuse, conscious and unconscious, can result in that kind of conditioning and a child has no control over it.
We do not condemn someone who suffers an accident and cannot walk normally, why should we condemn a person whose injury is behavioral? Certainly a god worthy of worship would not. These are two reasons I do not know that homosexuality by others is a sin.
Another occurs to me as I think of it though, it seems that a revered teacher once taught "Judge not lest you be judged for by what measure you mete will you also be measured.
Please don't condemn those poor folks. Their lives are hard enough. If you believe in prayer, pray for 'em. If you believe that the Holy Spirit that motivated the Christ is compassion, have a little.

first : I can have a long argument about who created man & woman and for what, no need to jump to conclusions dictated by 2000 year old myths.
secondly : if you beleive it's sin certainly does not mean you or your religion have the right to call anyone sinner
third : I know of a gay friend, and believe me, the amount of good he has done for people in life , and how much gentle and kind he is to everyone is millions of time better than what relegious people do out there for greed of some heaven thing, I think you should be ashamed of yourself for generalizing people as sinful just because they don't match your ideas.
fourth : my religion is that all people who hate others/think they are the best will go to the hell of my mind.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU???
Now, I'm not gay, nor do I know anyone who is gay, but still
WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU??
People are born gay, it's not there fault, nor is it a choice. They can not help. And to say that it is wrong, and it's there fault, is completly horrible on your part
you are a homophobe, and that is way worse
I wish stupid religous people like yourself would read up some more about SCIENCE and not be soo dim and narrow minded

Being gay is definitely a sin. It is an abomination to God. He made Adam and Eve and they were the first couple. Man should not have sex with man and neither should women have sex with women

Only to certain Christians, Muslims and Jews.
Everybody else can sleep with whomever they want.
Furthermore, the passage in Leviticus simply states that an man who lies with another man as a women (ie: is penetrated) is an abomination. The Christian Bible completely ignores the possibility of lesbianism, except if you look at the original Hebrew for the book of Ruth, which suggests that Ruth and Naomi behaved as a married couple.

Do yourself a favor. Use proper grammar and sentence structure as well as the check spelling tool that Yahoo provides for you. Then I'll consider reading your ignorance.
You are the reason why people strap bombs to themselves and blow up buses full of people. To say that I hate you and all that you stand for doesn't even begin to express how much I'd love to meet you face to face and have this discussion.
Now, let me ask you a question. Which southern state are you from?

Actually, you are not quite right. God never says that BEING anything is a sin. The fact is he says that a man lying with a man is sin or a woman lying with a woman is sin. You can BE gay but if you do not practice it you are not sinning. Just as BEING heterosexual does not make you sinless. If you are heterosexual and have sex outside of marriage you are sinning. If you are heterosexual and have sex with a close relative you are sinning. It's the action that is sinful not the existance.

How about that lie you said last week? That's a sin.
No matter what, miss, it's best to pull the log out of your own eye before you start pointing out the toothpick's in others.
Who is without sin cast the first stone - God is the one that judges... I'd leave it to Him next time.
Read THAT in your book.

This is the one of the subject when it comes to christianty that really puzzles me..it seems to me that gay people really dont choose to be that way(despite much arguement)...am not gay myself but it really seems like they are at a loss because people think they make it up or what not. It like they are not human to some. I dont think its fair to discriminate gays at all...so if the bible says not to...I dont know why God(if he's there) would have made people to have to go through such harsh turmoil and critism from others.

Did you know that the very concept of sin is an abomination to freedom loving people who are entitled to live their lives without being continually harrassed by people who imagine their own delusions are real? If Christians would stop "loving" everyone else, life in America would be a lot better.
