I work at a apartment property, and I saw this in an apartment recently. The man is of the Catholic faith, and I was just curious as to what that meant? PLEASE HELP!

I suspect you stumbled upon a family tradition, or perhaps something unique to that one individual. I know of no reason why a Catholic would or should mix rice with their quarters.

Did it ever occur to you that the bucket of rice and quarters may not (does not, actually) have anything to do with this man's religion?

I don't think that's something special in the Catholic faith at all. Perhaps you misunderstood.
