I'm sorry but for the die hard JW's in this forum, your answers are a contridiction.. and based on bad assumptions .. you are not guilted into giving at all.. and people do give out of there hearts.. now .. how about the
1` "it expensive to run a kingdom hall " 2. "our leaders arent paid"
so just addressing point one is it more expensive then say a Methodist Church.. No esp because of point # 2
So now we add the big finish ALL other chistian religions use that money to HELP others .. others meaning those not of their religion.. the WT&TS DOES NOT ...
Jesus Help all Not just people who followed him..
Please do not use this petty statement "we dont use collection plates" to attempt to rise yourself above others .. esp when you know that it is encoraged .. goaded and guilted to give .. during your meetngs and conventions..
it is the very definintion of hypocrite and frankly, you lower yourselfs in the eyes of other and God

AHHH the age old "we JW's are better than your churches because we don't pass a collection plate" and "we don't beg for money, but churches do."
Let's all just sift out all of this.
To quote a R/S regular: "The cost of running our Assembly Halls and district convention sites is considerable. We all have a part in offsetting that cost by making voluntary donations. The power to run the lights and air conditioning for such large facilities costs lots of money."
So, there are expenses in the Assembly Halls and convention sites, there are also expenses for other religions' buildings and sites. THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE HERE!!!!
"We don't pass around collection plates to obligate anyone to donate money. There are many contribution boxes on the sites for those who wish to contribute without being seen by others." Passing around a collection plate does not obligate anyone anymore than does a contribution box. They are both means to an end: Income versus Expenses. THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE HERE!!!
"It is good when announcements are made to remind us of what the operating expenses are." So, it's good when announcements are made about expenses at your local meetings at the KH, but it is from the spawn of Satan for other religions to mention its expenses...This is hypocritical if you ask me (just my opinion). THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE HERE!!!!
"At times I have forgotten to make my donation. Such announcements serve as reminders to me and others to do our part." So you have to be reminded to give and that is not a terrible thing, but for a pastor to remind his flock about giving is again spawn of Satan; again, a hypocritical statement if you ask me. THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE HERE!!!!
"But if anyone does not choose to give money for expenses, HE DOES NOT HAVE TO!" No one has ever been held at gun point to empty their pockets that I'm aware of. THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE HERE!!!
"Our ministers do NOT get paid for their services." SOOO????? What does that have to do with the price of tea in China? Each and every Christian gives of themselves in their individual ministries. THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE HERE!!!!!!!!!
Oregon Flower and Gentle Winds know that. YES, THEY MIGHT, BUT IT DOES NOT MATTER!!!!
So, let's put this puppy to bed!! FINALLY!!!!
Not passing a collection plate does not make the JW organization any better than those religions that do. THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE!!!!

Calling someone out in a forum like this is wrong. If you have a question to post, then post it.
The cost of running our Assembly Halls and district convention sites is considerable. We all have a part in offsetting that cost by making voluntary donations. The power to run the lights and air conditioning for such large facilities costs lots of money. We don't pass around collection plates to obligate anyone to donate money. There are many contribution boxes on the sites for those who wish to contribute without being seen by others. It is good when announcements are made to remind us of what the operating expenses are. At times I have forgotten to make my donation. Such announcements serve as reminders to me and others to do our part. But if anyone does not choose to give money for expenses, HE DOES NOT HAVE TO!
Our ministers do NOT get paid for their services. Oregon Flower and Gentle Winds know that.

I don't see the question here, and honestly, with an answer like that it is understandable you were blocked. I too have been blocked by some, which can be annoying when they ask questions designed for people of a group who know the answer to not be able to answer, BUT, it is important to always try to be polite.

Dear Wondering Faith,
I think you've flushed out the answer and it consists of 2 parts.
It kind of reminds me of pheasant hunting with my dad when I was a child.
1. Boxes (no plates allowed)
2. Stationary (no passing allowed)
To me that reeks of starting a manmade religion on shifting sand!
Edit:
It's too bad I didn't copy Heavenly Eyes original answer since he deleted it after I gave my answer. Wondering Faith if you think it is appropriate do you want to put it in your details?
For His glory,
JOYfilled

I never been to any convention but I have the experience of Bible Study from them. Everything they give me and my daughter is free. Two books , 2 bibles, Watchtower's, basically whatever I want; its free. I offered to pay for my bible but my teacher said no, its free. She special order me another one because I requested for a large print. In my own free will, I will pay for the special order Bible. I want to pay for it because it will be special to me. Putting collection boxes in a large convention is no big deal and it is not begging. People that give from the sincerety of their heart Jehovah knows. Even the poor lady that gave her bent up coin Jesus saw that she gave the most of everyone because she needed it more than the other's but yet gave from the love of her heart. From my experience, I pretty sure the J's W's give with more love than you can imagine because they know everyday around the world there brother's and sister's will be giving away FREELY because they want ONE more (and more) to have the blessings of walking through the city gates along with them. Jehovah God & Jesus Christ must really be proud of people like that. They seek to find people to draw closer to Jehovah God and this is how YOU repay them??? Not one bad deed goes unpunished.

I am Jehovah´s witness , and I have been in Catholic and protestant meeting and you can´t never compare in both the way they request money is amazing, among s nobody know if you give money but when you are "forced" to give cause someone put a plate (in my country is a plastic pail of 2 gls) and you see the one just next to you that gave 10 then you feel guilty if you don´t give money equal or more.
If you to go to our meeting if you have no money, nobody know , if you give or not nobody know and NEVER EVER you are forced , there is a report of expenses cause of course there are expenses every where but Jehovah, s witnesses don´t steal the money requesting "tithing" and using the verse of Malachi 3:10 to force people telling that if you don´t give money you are stealing to God, that is a simple scam, something that you never ever going to see among JWs.
I know it is hard to admit that JWs don´t request money in the ambitious way other religious organization request.

Do not worry about the answers of Heavenly Eyeballss minus balls! He likes to make all kind of statements but then is not accepting e-mail and blocks you if he cannot handle the difference of the opinion.
Do not even bother with what he says, just block him back and have your own performance.
Hugs.

No, it isn't "making God beg," dear one, it is giving people the opportunity to give to His work.
Do you think that food banks run on NOTHING? Do you think that helping the less fortunate with their electric bills and clothing costs NOTHING? Do you think the pastor can live with no income?
Get a grip and God bless!

Exactly! I am glad you asked this - he blocked me too.
They give talks from the stage telling the congregants to give money. At the conventions, they have special parts dedicated just to telling everyone how much money they still need and reminding them to donate. How is that not begging for money for "god"?
