Ok so I've done plenty of research to see that Global Warming clearly isn't real, and I'm getting annoyed with people claiming that it is real just because they choose to believe people like Gore who are trying to get money. Anyway if your like me, and agree with me on this, we really get the plus side. Yes we can help the enviroment but at least we who did the research don't have to freak out about the earth getting flooded out so we can just sit back, relax, and watch everybody else freak out. Does anybody side with me on this?

Ok well first of all, my old biology book has a graph from like 1900-1970 that kept ground charts for the temps around the world and each year the temps were around normal, (the earth wasn't colder, or warmer then usual) but those weren't as accurate since a lot of earth is made up of water. So in the 70s they launched a satellite to keep track of the temps everywhere, and it showed that overall, there was no cooling or warming of the earth.
And a big thing was that a group from Harvard did a research and found that in the medieval times, it was warmer then it is now. And there was no cars or things we have now that are supposedly contributing to global warming! And a funny thing is, the world though we were going into an ice age over a hundred years ago!

Yeah and true, people seem to forget the fact that global (meaning world wide) warming would mean the whole earth warming which would mean that the whole world (not just america) is always warm, hardly never cold. Yet where I live in the midwest, we had record low temps last winter! We had three weeks of below 0 temps! What is so warm about that?

Jim J, God also said in the Bible, that after Noah's flood, that he would never flood the earth again like that, yet, people say global warming will cause the earth to flood.

Nope I've researched both views of global warming and I've concluded that it isn't real. But hey, it's your choices, you can choose to believe what you want especially if you've done your research and believe it, then fine, as long as you respect my opinions and don't think me stupid, then I'll respect yours and let you worry.

Yes, I completely agree. There is warming going on, as the climate will always change. There is no such thing as a static climate. The climate has to change.
Today's warming is caused by the Sun. There is nothing man can do to effect something as large as the climate.
Wait a couple of years, the climate will change again. This hype about we have 10 years before thermal runaway is just pure BS!

With all due respect, I've been independeltly researching global warming and climate change for 24 years - five days a week, 46 weeks a year. It's my job. I have a degree in climatology and two other related degrees and have to say that I don't agree with you (I don't necessarily agree with the media or Al Gore either).
The science that indicates the existence of anthropogenic global warming is, for want of a better word, irrefutable.
There is good cause to be skeptical (all scientists are) but to dismiss evidence out of hand is not a realistic approach.
Besides, global warming was an established scientific fact long before Al Gore was born (from your research you'll know this).
If you like, please add the reasons you beleive global warming not to be real - I'd be interested to know.

RE: YOUR ADDED DETAILS
You must have been writing those as I was writing my original answer.
From 1900 to 1940 global temperatures rose from an 10 year mean in 1900 of 13.721°C to 14.028°C in 1940, dropped back to 14.006°C by 1970 then rose to the 14.689°C where they are now. Several satellites are now in use that provide extremely accuarate temp data from around the globe. We've been using data from ships around the world for decades - here's a map showing the live locations of ships, as you can see, the oceans are well and truly covered. http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/shiplocations.phtml
The Medieval Warm Period peaked approx 1000 years ago when average global temps reached 14.003°C - quite a bit cooler than they are not. See my previous answers for detailed explanations about the MWP.
The MWP was occasioned by the natural cycles that Earth and the Sun go through - it was the culmination of a slow and progressive warming trend, temps are presently rising 16 times as fast as those that led to the MWP.
The talk about heading into another ice age stems from the 1970's. It amounted to nothing more than a small number of one off reports written by journalists (not scientists) and published in a limited number of periodicals. It never had any scoentific basis to it which is why the global warming skeptics and deniers have never managed to produce any. What you could do is to ask people who were around in the 70's if they remember a global cooling scare and impending ice age - chances are they won't.
Global warming is not restricted to the US - in fact, the US is one of the places that has warmed the least. It's about the long-term global average increase in temperatures. As with any temperature record there will be highs, lows and anomalies. For example, as winter approaches the trend is one of cooling temps, it doesn't mean that every day will be consistently colder then the previous one.
Whilst some places have had record lows (and will continue to do so), there are more places that have had record highs. 2007 is on target to become the new hottest year on record (we won't know for certain until early Jan next year but it's headed that way).
Global warming has been a 'scientific fact' since 1896 (credited to the Swedish chemist Svante Arhennius) and a scientific hypothesis since 1811. We have over 100 years of evidence to support the theory of anthropogenic global warming.
I respect you opinions, we're all entitled to them. I also respect global warming skeptics as without people questining the work of scientists progress would be painfully slow. Scientists are natural skeptics, we're not happy just to know that the world is warming but want to know why and how it's warming and to be able to explain everything with facts. That means examining every possible cause of global warming and then factoring everything into extremely complex computer programmes.
What I would suggest is that some of the sources you have used during your research have been outdated or biased. Better to go only for first hand sources - the media have an annoying habit of partial reporting and selective editing.

I agree with u perfectly. In the late 1800s and early 1900s we had record highs all around the world, and at the time most ppl did not use cars. Ever since then the earth has cooled drastically and in all has (since 1995) gone up more than
.00005 degrees F. And recently scientist (who all believed in global warming) went somewhere and did some supposed "tests" and when they got back they said that they had proved that global warming was real. Sometime later some other scientist went and did the same thing at the same place (a mix of scientist who believed in global warming and some who didnt) and came up with the opposite results. Soon after they were all fired (and yes they worked for the same company as the scientists who did the original tests)
and dana, the chart on the side says ANOMALY which im betting the ANOMALY is the one that happens each year in antarctica. I have done my research and found plenty of sights that like global warming and some that dont and they all say to avoid that link u gave us and all agree that that link is a false one. And wikipedia gets updated by ppl all over the world and if u read the rest of the page u will learn that it is not going up. And dana, do better research.

1). global warming doesn't mean that the whole world is going to flood. Only about 3 to 5 percent of the world’s low lying costal areas will flood.
2). global warming is kid of a misleading statement. What is really going to happen is a rise in the worlds average temperature's that will have rippling effects throughout the world’s climate. So in essences the whole world will be experiencing more extreme weather patterns (at a extremely frequent rate) and climate patterns ( so this could mean extremely warm temperatures, cold, extreme droughts, floods, melting, etc.)
3). the information from your biology book is DATED INFORMATION, based on DATED TECHNOLOGY! So the current information and climate models would be more accurate than thirty years ago.
4). Al Gore is only using factual data from real climatologist, meteorologist, and other noted scientist; none of the factual information was produced from his imagination.
5). Also, you are being hypocritical when you say that people like Al Gore, Wal-Mart, and other people and corporations like them are making large sums of money from global warming then you turn around and say that renewable technology isn’t profitable, and that people don’t believe in global warming. Well if no one did, and there was now money to be made from renewable technology then why are corporations making large amounts of money off of renewable technology. So my advice to you is to stop saying these things because you are weakening your argument.
6). Wouldn’t you rather spend time going green (only to make lots of money in the process, and help secure your countries political, economical, and social future) only to find out that there was no real problem to begin with, or completely neglect this issue all together only to find out that you were wrong all along, and have to explain to your children why you didn’t you do anything (because they will ask you why you didn’t do anything, wouldn’t you?).
7). automobiles are not the only cause of the current problems brought on by humans, which have to do with global climate change!!! (i.e. the more published term global warming).
I think that it is time you go back and research again, without using your dated text book, articles from magazines that have nothing to do with science (and/or are written by republican politicians).

you know, you probably just "researched" right wing propaganda, just as global warming could be classified as left wing propaganda. However, I was just in Alaska on a glacier tour, and oh man...those things are melting and FAST. Chunks of ice by the second - where do you think that ice is going? And global warming doesn't mean just hotter weather...it means that the earth's central temperature will rise by a measly 1-2 degrees...it just means that that small change will throw all of our systems out of whack...so it doesn't really matter that it's raining in so cal in september...it's occurring on a much more fundamental and basic level than just having some warm days.

HAHAHA
I'm sorry, but I couldn't help myself.
I actually have SCIENTIFIC DATA to support my claim: Global Warming in the 21st century is a natural phenomenon.
Here is some scientific data I collected over the past few years.
1) 'From 1986 to 2000 central antarctic valleys colled .7 degrees C per decade with serious ecosystem damage from cold' (Antarctic climate cooling and terrestrial ecosystem response, Nature 415, 517-520)
2)the mean temperature in Punta Arenas (closest city to Antarctica) has decreased by roughly .7 degrees C from 1888 to 2004 (giss.nasa.gov)
3) 1940 to 1970, the mean temperature went DOWN while CO2 lvs RISED (giss.nasa.gov)
4) "although it's tempting to blame the ice loss on global warming, researchers think that DEFORESTATION of the mountain's foothills is more likely the culprit" (www.nature.con/nsu/031117/031...
5) hurricane strikes by the decade 1900-2004: the number of hurricanes is going down (www.nhc.noaa.gov/pastdec/shtm...
6) according to the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, "Examination of meteorological data fails to support the perception [of increased frequencly and severity of extreme climate events] in the context of a long-term climate change"
7) "Overall, there is no evidence that exptreme weather events, or climate variability, has increased, in a global sense, throughought the twentieth century" (IPCC, Climate Change 1995)
Sorry, i have a LOT more, but I just used 30min re-finding these instead of studying for AP calc test tomorrow. Cheers.

You are part right. That is the problem. Doom and gloom, the world is coming to an end, is not even close. Learning about GW from science and applying what we know, may led us to feel safe when we have a big problem with destroying the ozone layer when we could be saving it.

I appreciate that you're trying to research the science behind the issue, but you need to do a bit more (accurate) research.
You claim that the planet hasn't warmed. This is simply incorrect, as you can see here:
http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/img/climate/research/2005/ann/global-blended-temp-pg.gif
You claim that the global temperature was warmer during the Midieval Warm Period. This is incorrect as well, as you can see here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:2000_Year_Temperature_Comparison.png
That link shows 10 seperate temperature reconstructions, none of which have the MWP anywhere near as warm as today.
It's good that you're trying to research the science behind the issue, but it's important to get your information from reliable sources. Wherever you read that global temperatures haven't warmed recently or since the MWP, that's an unreliable source. Scientific studies have shown otherwise.

Global warming is just a prelude to the heat that God is going to send upon this unrepentant human race.
Rev 16:8 And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire.
Rev 16:9 And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.
edit - Ah, so many thumbs down, how nice to see people respect the Word of the One that they will have to answer to on judgement day.
No global warming flood predictions I have been able to find say that the earth will be completely covered by water. Most say the sea levels will rise a few feet. God's word says Gen 9:15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
Nothing about causing the sea levels to rise a few feet.

well i think the earth might get warmer. The question is why and do we have anything to do with that or can we do anything about it. I was a little disappointed in gores speech, he obviously thinks people are idiots and dont do research. He didnt explain how he came to those conclusions he made and he didnt consider people who dont believe in his theories and try to answer their questions.
