You need to find a professional dog obedience trainer/instructor, ASAP! The dog really needs socializing from a class-no private lessons! PetSmart offers classes, is there one near you? Like less than half an hour drive? Benefits: A well socialized pooch, doesn't attack. You do the training, so the dog knows that he/she needs to listen to you. the dog will undrestand that you are in charge, not her!

If you dont want to spend the $ to have your dog trained and you have alot of patience you can train it yourself. I think this way would work: I have a bichon myself and know they can get nasty. Anyway, I agree with everyone when they say you need to socialize ur dog with other people, my dog doesnt like other dogs too much and thats okay so avoid it. Tell someone ur training your dog so they dont get freaked out by its behavior, and simply scold your dog when it does the undesired behavior, and on the opposite side, CONSTANTLY reward your dog with a treat or something when it does behave. You do need to get ur dog comfortable with other people and the only way is to force it. to be around people.

try to take her to places where she will be associated with many smells and people, as well as other animals. whenever someone comes over keep her on a leash, if she growls or lunges do a complete turn around and walk away from that person. if you believe she is protecting you, the best thing to do is if she growls/lunges etc. calmy stand up and leave the room and close the door behind you until she settles down. Each time she growls, the person she wants to be with or is protecting must leave the room. bad behavior=master leaves. it may take some time but soon she'll calmly allow visitors to come and go as they please. hope it helps =]

Your going to think I am crazy. But you need to take her to a park and socialize her, preferly a park with other dogs. If you have the money some dog training would be great. If not get some books. A tied dog is a good dog.

A dog trainer would be my best suggestion especially with a little one on the way. It will cost you a little money, but it is the quickest way to get an assessment of your pet and a change in behavior.

as dumb as this sounds, the show "the dog whisperer" offers a lot of great tips that can tide you over until you get her enrolled in an obedience course. out of curiosity, how long has she been behaving like this? i'm assuming if you're having a baby soon, there's been a lot of changes in the home. her aggression could be stemming from this.

Bichon frise are normally protective dogs even if theyre small dogs, they tend to protect their masters and their families so he's probably just protecting you. They also want to get all the attention to them. Socializing your dog will definitely help. Good luck.

All dogs, regardless of size, need to be trained and socialized.
She is ruling the roost, so to speak.
Hire a trainer to show you what to do and how to stop this behavior.

She hasn't been properly socialized. This is your fault if you've had her for any length of time. Also, learn how to spell the breed.
Hire a trainer or behaviorist before she bites someone and you get sued or she gets put down.
