I was raised in a very conservative Baptist family. By the time I was 15, my mom was dropping me off at the church for youth group and I was walking out of the back door to my girlfriend's house. I had a filthy mouth, drank alcohol, never had intercourse but experimented with other sexual activities. When I entered college, I was cursing the name of God and saying there was no God. It was my opinion that some politicians wrote the bible to help substantiate the law.
When I was about twenty, I started looking at why things were what they were. What was the point of trying to live a certain way if it didn't mean anything? Then I started studying some Darwinism, nothing too deep, and the idea of everything evolving from a big bang, a single cell organism to the incredibly complex and perfect working body that we have. I also started looking at what I wanted my life to be like and why I wanted that.
After all of that, I knew there had to be more to life than just birth, living a meaningless existence, and then death. As I started this transition in thought, a new family moved in beside my mom and dad. I saw the peace, the joy, and comfort their family had in life. Regardless of a couple of tragedies, their faith stayed strong. I started hanging out at their house more and more and started going to church with them. In April of 2003, I dedicated my life to serving Jesus Christ and accepted Him as my savior. Faith is not always convenient, I've had to change some things in my life that were quite satisfying, but were not glorifying to God. I can't give you something tangible for the reason for my faith, I can only tell my story of how I got. I would love to talk further about it, feel free to email me.

Theists believe in God(s), and that he has an influence on the material world. As in, a God who answers prayers, performs miracles. Deists also believe that there is a God, but Deism as a rule draws from logic and personal experience. Deists don't generally believe in things such as miracles, or a god doing anything outside of the normal laws of the universe. A pretty common belief amongst Deists is in a God that made the world, but now does not affect human affairs in any way. Fideism could be described as the opposite of Deism. Whilst Deists beleive in a God as it seems to make logical sense, Fideists claim that beleif in God can only come from faith, logic and reason are irrelevant as God is something that cannot be understood. Agnostics either believe that there is no reason to suggest that there is a God, but that such a being may be plausible, or they believe that the existence of God is simply something that cannot be known whatsoever. Atheism is literally the lack of a belief in a god. Atheists don't "deny" God per se, they just don't see any reason to believe in one. To say that they "deny the existance of God" implies that they know that God exists but purposely turn away from it. Atheists simply find that belief in God does not appear to make logical sense, and do not have the "faith" of the fideist to beleive it regardless. Hope this helps.

What happened is that there is a Paradox that you people who believe in God cannot see. There are always 2 sides to every story. The only thing without 2 sides is essentially "0" or "nothing." While this does not exactly prove Atheism, it doesn't exactly support the idea of God.
I'm also not into "dualism" and belief in God is all over that.

I'm an atheict, not a theist.
I don't believe in God because I have no proof. And seeing and hearing about people who are "in love with God" and are bible-bumpers turn me off to the idea of God even more.
Plus I don't like the idea of someone watching over me all the time... I like my privacy.

Actually, it is very possible for theists to not believe in god. A christian does not believe in the Egyptian gods. A muslim does not believe in the Aztec gods. Every person has atheistic attitude towards certain religions and their gods. I have never met or heard of a person who believed in all religions and all gods.

I think your answers indicate poor proof reading skills among your readers.
However, most Theists believe in God because they were taught to and they consider experience interpreted through that filter as evidence for God's existence rather than examining it from a more objective perspective.

Lol. I looked at your question 5 times before I saw that second 'not'. I guess it just shows how easy it is for people to jump to conclusions.
