Ezekiel 23:20
There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses.

I'm indebted to those who've poste the Ezekiel quote - turns out there's some pretty good porn in there if you know where to look!

Nothing was ever censored from me per se, though I did only have a children's Bible. That said, the flood was a killer, the geezers in the furnace really walked into burning flames, and when it came to it, Jesus was honestly whipped, stabbed, nailed and ultimately killed.

As a longstanding atheist, none of it bothered me as a grown-up till I was visiting with a Christian couple who take their faith pretty seriously. I was asked to read their son a Bible bedtime story, and they chose the Great Flood. Before I could begin reading though, they took me aside and told me to "miss out the part where everyone dies". That rather shocked me, but I had to abide by their wishes, I was a guest in their house.

Recently, and odd as it sounds, given my continuing atheism, I was made godfather to two young girls, and bought them a children's bible so they could read the stories and gain whatever they're meant to gain from them. Made damn sure I read some of it through before buying it though, and I'm glad to say the death count's still as high as ever.

None of them. I think children (over the age of ten or so) should be allowed to see what a crock it all is.

I'm somewhat concerned about people like my own grade-school vicar, though, going on to me when I was five, as well as all the other five-year-olds in assembly, "They hit him over and over again with a WHIP! Until all the skin and flesh was gone from his BACK! And you could see the BONES! And then they nailed him to the CROSS! Nails right through his HANDS! Imagine the PAIN!" Still, I suppose that doesn't count as he wasn't quoting the Bible exactly. By the way, he ended up defrocked for humping someone else's wife. C'est la vie...

Nothing was kept from us, nor should it be.

Understanding often comes from age and experience.

My New King James reads: "For she lusted for her paramours, Whose flesh is like the flesh of donkeys, And whose issue is like the issue of horses."

Not to be rude, but the woman in Ezekiel sounds very liberated for her time if you take it out of context. Oholibah, the woman is Jerusalem. Ezekiel was drawing attention to how sinful and corrupt Gods people had become by using a harlot for a synonym for the Jewish nation. He also compares the corrupt harlot Ohola (Samaria, a pagan nation) to Jerusalem. At the end of the chapter, God promises Judgment against Jerusalem for its evil ways.

Understanding comes with age and teaches us to keep Scripture in context.

The part where Samson's captors gouged out his eyes.

That gave me nightmares when I was seven.
