You can't prove it as such. You can only try to explain why the three names; God the Father, God the Son and the Holy Spirit are regarded as names for one spirit - God. Understanding it is virtually impossible.

Point of clarification: There are two separate issues here.

(1) Does the Bible teach the idea of God's "three-ness" and simultaneous "one-ness" in the Bible (hence, the Trinity)? (Trinitarians all know that the word "trinity" does not exist in the Bible though they argue that the concept exists.)

(2) If so, how are these concepts reconciled?

Question (2) is what trinitarians refer to as the "mystery." Since they believe it, they will do what they can to explain it, illustrate it, or clarify it from the Bible from texts they believe teach it. There are some things we can understand about this three-ness & one-ness idea. But ultimately since it regards to the nature of the Divine which we as humans cannot ever fully fathom, they will say that our minds will inevitably bump up against a conceptual glass ceiling, beyond which is knowledge we have to admit is a "mystery."

Question (1) is what trinitarians "try to prove" from the Bible, since there are non-trinitarians who insist that the Bible does not teach God's "three-ness" (e.g., Jehovah's Witnesses).

Although the word Trinity is not in the Bible, it is just a word that is a title for the concept of a Triune God which is in the Bible.

But WHY wouldn't people who believe in God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit-- use the scriptures to show you where the concept of the Trinity is in fact biblical in every way?

The Bible is the source of the theology of the Trinity, so of COURSE we are going to quote the Bible to prove it to you.

1x1x1=1 God, who is Above all, and through all and in all (note the three...)

Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord God Almight (note the three...)

thanks.

The trinity is not mysterious, it refers to many aspects of the universe not just the Father, Son & Holy spirit. It also refers to mind, body & spirit; physical, non-physical & metaphysical; id, ego & superego; conscious, subsonscious & superconscious; energy, matter & anti-matter. Time is also divided by 3: past, present & future. Space can also be divided by 3 as well: here, there & the space between. There are also 3 energies: thoughts, words and actions. It all depends on how you personally interpret it =)

Misunderstanding, perhaps. Ever get the notion that even though many have read the Bible, NOBODY can make sense out of every single bit of it?

Perhaps because it doesn't make a lot of sense...

You posted this already.

like it was said before, you obviously do not understand what they mean by this saying.

By a "mystery" them mean that humans cannot understand how the "trinity" works.

But obviously the Bible says that God is a trinity, otherwise we would not believe it.
