sounds like slavery to me.

EDIT:
wow mass thumbs down, interesting. this verse is obviously talking about how the woman needs to be submissive to the lead of the man. not to question, not to get involved with issues, clearly showing a lower social status. this is a form of slavery whether you like to think of it that way or not.

Wives submit to your husband as you submit to God. For the husband has no control over his body and the wife has no control over hers. For the two are one in body and spirit. Would a man harm his own body, for he is also to sumit to his wife also due benevolence.

As Christ is the head of the Church so the husband is the head of the wife.

You need to read it carefully for you left out some truths. Wives are to love there husbands in the Lord. But if their husbands cause physical harm then they are not obligated to stay. God wants us to live in peace.Matthew chapter 19. Some quote the scriptures as if it is a one sided deal. Wives are not slaves. We are equal to men. But we are obediant to God. Look at the whole picture. Read the Bible for knowledge not to make a point. Wisdom is a woman! Proverbs 8. she calls out in the streets.
These women were also with God before the beginning. Insight and understanding. Read Proverbs 7,8,9. Jesus even said wisdom is justified by her children. Luke 7:35.

I had marriage counseling over this very verse just a few months ago.
22. Love your husband like you love God
23. It is saying that it is the MANS job to make sure that the family goes to church. In today's society it is women that drag the husbands.
24. As the church love Christ, Love your husband not matter what.

Our pastor told us that this particular verse is often mistranslated. Bottom line, it is saying go to church and love and respect each other no matter what!

Here is a more complete passage. The teaching is that women should respect their husbands and husbands are held to a higher standand. They must love their wives.

Then, this teaching is applied to the Church.

21 Be subordinate to one another out of reverence for Christ.
22 Wives should be subordinate to their husbands as to the Lord.
23 For the husband is head of his wife just as Christ is head of the church, he himself the savior of the body.
24 As the church is subordinate to Christ, so wives should be subordinate to their husbands in everything.
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ loved the church and handed himself over for her
26 to sanctify her, cleansing her by the bath of water with the word,
27 that he might present to himself the church in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.
28 So (also) husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
29 For no one hates his own flesh but rather nourishes and cherishes it, even as Christ does the church,
30 because we are members of his body.

(PS Ladies, this actually works. Don't let the guys know.)

Sorry one must read the entire chapter and sometimes the chapters before and after to get the complete meaning. The bible should not be read as a verse here and verse there but as a whole. When one just picks and chooses verses to try and interpret(which is why we need the Holy Spirit for the correct interpretation)thats when we get thousands upon thousands of interpretations of the bible. Please let the Holy Spirit guide you, dont take another persons word for what they think the interpretation means to them. Pray to God and seek His guidance in all things.

Its not a matter of interpretation. Scripture tells us that.

In the context , it is talking about responsibilities that each partner has in a marriage. Yield means to fit into the plans of another: to follow willingly. Hubbys need our input to make wise decisions, so his instructions would include getting your ideas as well.

Women were deceived in the garden, and thus we need protection from going on our "feelings" alone when making important decisions. This is protection from God for we who are the weaker vessel. Scripture tells us all of this, so its not up for personal interpretation. Its simply the way God set things up.

It seems pretty clear to me. Its just that no one except the Christ is doing their job correctly. Maybe it is not a negative as this world makes it out to yield to a theocratic order when it reflects Christ's love.

The Bible says Sarah was woman's example. She obeyed Abraham, even when he made mistakes. Can you trust the Lord working through a husband, even as the husband makes errors? That the Lord will work out the husband's mistakes?

Wives are to be loving and submissive to husbands and allow their husbands to lead the household.

If you keep reading Husbands are equally asked to Love their wives as Christ loved the Church. (Christ loved the church by dying for it)

And if you read the verse before it instructs us to submit to one another.

Self-Explanatory

It means what it says. But I interpret it as a bunch of nonsense. I female, whether married or not, is just as equal to a man and doesn't need to submit. This is what happens when men have control of ideologies. Look at the middle east and their mistreatment of women. It's only like that because they uphold what they are taught in their holy book. The Bible and Koran are not much different when it comes to how they see women. It's quite disgusting if you ask me.
