Excuse? No.
Reason? Excellent.
Most Christians have never read the bible. Most who have haven't read it critically.
I didn't become an atheists (releasing belief in ALL gods) as a result of reading the bible. However, as a result of reading the bible (and even more so the history of the bible itself) I did release my Christian faith...becoming an agnostic.
After then examining other faiths, including deism, I came to the realization that I am a weak atheist, who fails to believe in any gods whatsoever.
So reading the bible didn't make me an atheist, rather it gave me the foundation upon which to reject Christianity, which eventually let to atheism.
BTW, excuses are moot once I have rejected the Holy Spirit (which I have done), Matthew 12:31-32 (and other passages). So there are no excuses. Even if I 100% accepted the bible and Jesus someday (doubtful) I have no excuse....the bible says I am headed to hell anyway.

No I think people who became Atheist do so for the reason so they can have an excuse to sin or confuse religion with behavior of the common person.
Religion is often used as a reason for many wars in our history by many people. Tis not true. It is the politicians manipulating the religious beliefs of others for their own gain and thus those people should bear the blame not religion.

I am not sure what you mean by "good excuse." However, I have known many atheist who have read the Bible and remained atheist. I also have known many outspoken atheist who read the Bible and became a believer. I also have known believers who have read the Bible and retained and strengthened their faith. I also have known believers who have read the Bible and became atheist.
It is GOOD to read the Bible. And I am glad when anyone reads the Bible. And I can sometimes understand why some are atheist. (Like the rare occasion when they are abused or mistreated by Christians) Yet I do not think that it is a reasonable conclusion to say that God does not exist after reading the Bible.

It's not an excuse. The Bible is a pretty valid reason for atheism.

It is a perfectly reasonable outcome. Millions have done it. It's the result of actual thinking.

It's not an excuse. For many it's an accurate description of their facts.
